This is a bit of a \'how long is a piece of string\' question; there is almost no limit to how little or how much once can spend repainting a car.  Invite a few mates round and slap some Dulux on with brushes = cost of a few beers for said mates, Boyd Coddington = $$$$$.  And the reason that such a wide range of prices exist is because the extra money makes a visible difference to the quality of the finish.

If you\'re able to spend some time masking it up yourself first then you may be able to get it done cheaper.

I\'d reckon on a grand upwards for a decent job, but everyone has different definitions of decent.

Agree resprays can vary widely from one bodyshop to the next and the quality of finish and materials you use. When it comes to paintwork a cheap respray isnt the way to go. I guess its like most things in life you get what you pay for

Consider \'wrapping\' your car tooo :D

Budget 2k for a decent job IMO

I paid £1250 for a respray on my MR2 and it was "OK".

Your best of getting actual quotes, if i was you i\'d be asking about locally which Bodyshops have good reputations (even Google for bad experiences) then pay each one a visit and have a chat with them. Some shops don\'t like doing Colour changes so you might get spanked and some shops will look at a Colour change as nice steady work if there Quiet so will give you a decent price, get at least three qoutes and try to sus out what standard of finish there putting out (don\'t forget the Estimator is nothing short of a Sales man so try not to take in too much of his sales speech :) )

I used to Work in a Bodyshop and i know all the £££ is in the Labour costs, we always used to take things like Door handles, wing repeaters, Bumpers off etc and you could loose two days in the Strip work so may be worth asking if you pulled it apart/Rebuilt it what would the difference in price be??  Don\'t be tempted to do any of the Prep work your self, i know people will tell you it will save you money but unless you know your stuff the bodyshop is likely to take off most of the Prep time so if the repairs are not that hot they won\'t have time to sort it out and i know allot of painters that will just paint over it.

Also i know this is going to sound Obvious but having a low bake oven in the Bodyshop makes a Huge difference to the Longevity of the Paint Job.

There is nothing worse than a Bad Paint job, it will either make the car look a million dollars or a shed one step of the breakers so do your home work and pick some where good rather than cheap.

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but I\'m also looking for a full respray and have just sent off an email to The Speed Factory in Preston as they seem to have a good reputation...

Anyone else seen any of their work or dealt with them? Would be useful to know for both myself and the OP :Thumbs-up
