Clive,
Thanks for the reply.
Long story short. Car will be sent around the world and driven on the road including this country. So some/most factory systems are required for certain countries laws.
Must work includes DSC, ABS, dash instruments, auto leveling headlights, and must not have any lights on the dash! And as will be on the road i would like to keep interior things like factory stereo, steering wheel controls etc.
I am unsure and am waiting on an email for the steering and throttle control whether this must remain or can be changed, but i think they can be changed?
Will i need to run a similar setup to yours for this? Or will the apexi option be able to do all this? Can i get some advice?
Thank you

Bit more of an update.

2 new tires about 2 months ago.
Just seen car due a service soon, so will organise a full service next week.
This is a well loved and looked after car.
Test drives (provided you have insurance) and inspections are welcome.
Also have spoken to my local garage so if you would like it on the pit or ramp to have a quick look that can be arranged.

Ahhh... Thank you!! That completes the missing link for me!! I got it now. Thank you so much!!
That is so so so straight forward now it has been properly explained to me!!
Clive. Doesn\'t the factory pump already have a 12v feed standard? Or are you saying that its feed is said to be \'12v\' but when actually measured is less?
Thanks once again guys.

The more i think about it. I have to agree your suggested setup is best for me.
Sorry to state the obvious. But just so its as clear as mud in my mind.
I run factory fuel pump in tank. (Do i need to adjust pump pressure or just leave it alone)
I run factory fuel lines from tank to engine bay (or do they need upgrading to cope with volume flow)
I mount a swirl pot in tank (1litre big enough)
Then gravity feed from swirl pot to 044. Using a min 12 iD high pressure line
Same high pressure pipe split to both rails and back to FPR and back to swirl pot.
Then return from swirl pot back to fuel tank? Is there a line already in the FD that i can use?
Thank you for your help you have confirmed which way i want to go

That is all good info.
But where I\'m struggling to understand is by running an intank 044 with swirl pot its cheap and simple. However less than 1/4 tank appears the pump sucks air on occasion which doesn\'t sound at all good to me?
But the setup you mentioned with factory as lift pump to swirl pot. Then 044 inline seems just as cheap and simple. Plus a bit safer as you dont have high pressure fuel lines running the length of the car.
So my question really is: option 2 seems far easier safer and simpler to me? Why do people mess around running intank?

Dont want to confuse any further. But the option you suggested with lift pump. Does the pump need modifying to produce that 300lph volume flow?
Also do the fuel lines from the tank to swirl pot need upgrading? Or just be sure to use the larger lines from the swirl pot round the high pressure circuit, by that i mean; swirl pot to 044, fuel rail, fpr, back to swirl pot?

Thank you for your help think you have helped me decide the best way to go here for me

thanks for the reply. thats valuable information.

Just curious as to why people run 044s intan then? what are the benefits? because that setup seems far simpler?

Hi,

I have been reading loads on various threads about peoples fuel setups.
Im sure this has been discussed before but i cant quite get my head around it.
I have decided I want an 044 now need to think setup.
Car setup will be T51, half bridge, 850cc 1600cc injectors, looking for an easy 500+hp on 1.4bar safe tune.

Which fuel pump setup is best and why?

I am interested on hearing peoples opinions.

from what i can gather at the moment i get to this;
please correct if wrong?

bosch 044 in tank setup (forget ease/difficulty installing and wiring I am more than capable)- To me appears a good way to go, many have done this.
although some point out is it wise/safe running high pressure fuel lines the length of the car?
however my main concern is most/all apear to suffer with fuel starvation (especially left hand corners) can this simply be fixed by baffels in the tank? or surge tank/swirl pot (whatever people want to call it)? or both?

044 inline- high pressure only in engine bay, although costly as need to buy another pump eg walbro to pump volume to surge tank in engine bay (I assume factory pump wont be good enough to supply the volume)?

Thoughts please?
