Cars for Sale / FC3S Rx-7 Turbo II Convertible
May 21, 2012, 11:32:30 AM
I\'m relisting this basically because the spec of the car has changed numerous times since it was originally posted and I don\'t want to confuse anyone.

For sale is my beloved 1989 FC3S Turbo II convertible, believe me I really don\'t want to see this go. Unfortunately at the moment it\'s sat on my parents\' drive taking up space along with my very broken E36 (which I\'ll be breaking soon) so it could do with going so I an have a fresh start.

I\'m going to put it up at £1200, I\'m open to offers but please don\'t take the p*ss as I stand to lose a fortune as it is! Also please no "what\'s your lowest price?" PMs...

I would consider a part-ex but really could do with the cash instead as I have a lot of outgoings coming up in the next month and with most of my money still tied up in the Beemer it\'s not really the best situation.

Info:

72k miles
Taxed until end of May 2012
MOT\'d until June 2012

Spec:

DTSS (rear steer) eliminators (these are very hard to get hold of and absolute pain to fit, I had them custom made for me)
Exedy six-puck clutch, lightened flywheel and Mazda counterweight
Welded diff
Deep dish style steering wheel
Turbosmart boost gauge

Good stuff:

Extra pimp points just in time for summer
Engine is sweet as a nut, starts first time every time and idles perfectly (will upload a video later, will try and get a compression test done if requested)
Slam it, slap some gangster wheels on there and you\'ve got a winner

Bad stuff:

Front right brake line is leaking slightly (all being well will be replaced this week)
Factory standard tears in the roof (water doesn\'t get in)
Front wings are tatty
Bit of rust on the rear arches (pictured)

I\'m going to miss this thing :(

Mods if one of you wouldn\'t mind deleting the previous for sale thread it\'d be much appreciated.

Thanks gives, I\'m going to give it a bash at the weekend. Looks like the only way I\'m going to be able to shift the car is with standard wheels and shocks :(

Hi guys,

Currently in the process of removing the coilovers from my FC and replacing them with the standard items. I\'ve been working on the fronts, the coilovers have been removed no problem at all...but then the problems arise when trying to replace them with the standard items; they\'re HUGE! Despite using the henchest spring compressors I can find and compressing them as much as possible there just seems to be no way I can get the top mount all the way into the turret without the bottom section getting stuck on, well, everything.

The best way I can see round this is to disconnect the anti-roll bar drop link so the lower arm can swing down, fit the shock top mount and then get the bottom  end bolted up...or is there a better way?

I\'ve done this on a number of cars in the past and I know it\'s never a walk in the park but this is definitely the hardest!

Cars for Sale / FC3S Turbo II \'vert

Hi all, for sale is my 1989 FC3S Turbo II Vert.

I absolutely love this car but I don\'t get to drive it enough to justify the running costs. I\'ve driven it a fair bit over the last few weeks due to the weather being pretty good and nothing beats scraping along the road with the roof down soaking up the sun.

Spec:

72k miles (will change as used frequently)
Taxed until end of May 2012
MOT\'d until June 2012

Kei Office coilovers
Weds Farmas wheels (17x8, 17x9)
DTSS (rear steer) eliminators (these are very hard to get hold of and absolute pain to fit, I had them custom made for me)
Exedy six-puck clutch, lightened flywheel and Mazda counterweight
Welded diff
Nardi Deep Corn 350mm
Turbosmart boost gauge (water and oil temp gauges aren\'t wired up)
S13 front lip (not currently fitted)
25mm bolt-on spacers at the front, 8mm slip-ons at the back

I really don\'t want to see this car go, when the sun\'s out and the roof\'s down it really is awesome, but at the moment it\'s just a posing car. It drifts really nicely and easily but it\'s not really an ideal first drift car (it\'s my first RWD car) as it\'s just too nice to smash up! In an ideal world I\'d be able to keep it, clean it up and make it the ultimate lifestyler car but I do actually want to go drifting in anger at some point!

Mechanically speaking, the car is excellent. The engine starts first time, every time and has never let me down. It pulls brilliantly through the gears and is definitely no slouch. The clutch is also excellent, with the gearbox though second is occasionally a little crunchy when you\'re flooring it and changing gear but 99% of the time it\'s fine. The underside of the car is a little worse for wear as you would expect being this low but everything\'s still in one piece!

On the outside, it\'s a little tatty in places, the factory standard roof rips are present and the front wings could definitely use some TLC, but other than that it definitely seems structurally sound. I also have the roof cover thingy that you can put on when the roof\'s down (can\'t for the life of me remember what it\'s called but I hear they change hands for a fair bit).

Price-wise, I\'m going to put £2600 as I\'ve spent an awful lot of time and money sourcing a number of the parts as FC parts aren\'t exactly the easiest to find. I am open to offers AND swaps, depending on what it is of course.

Feel free to send me a PM but please don\'t be offended if I seem really reluctant to sell the car...I\'m not ashamed to say that, despite it making little sense to me practicality-wise, I adore it.

Haha I know man, as soon as the sun comes out I always rethink my decision! The most pressing cause for concern has really been that I\'m going to loose the use of my daily wagon from May until around October. I would just buy a a dump to roll around in but I\'m not old enough to get a cheap multi-car policy for myself (I\'m a named driver on the current daily, on the FC I\'m the policy holder) so ideally I need just the one car that is acceptable to use every day!

Maybe I should just take up cycling haha.

Still completely torn as to sell up or not... :( I\'ve got a pretty hefty amount I could use to put towards another car but I\'m so tempted to stick it back into this old heap :P

Put car up for sale again. Had lots of serious interest. Stuck S13 front lip on and drove around for a bit. Don\'t want to sell it any more.

Mine\'s only ever flooded once and that was my own fault. Before I turn it off I hold the revs at 2k for a few seconds then just turn the key, never fails (for me at least!)

Well as the weather was beautiful today it\'d have been rude not to take it to work...

Took it for a night on the skids last night, it\'s got so much more rear traction with the DTSS eliminators it\'s ridiculous, before one little clutch kick would have the car pointing in the wrong direction but now it\'s a lot more predictable. Definitely needs more lock though and a few other bits and bobs, it\'s very nervous and such (I remember reading an article on the why the FC is so much harder to drift than an S-body, the main issue being a much better weight distribution meaning it gives less of a pendulum effect).

Also, I\'ve always suspected a minor fuel leak but I put my foot down before and it smelt like I was literally driving through a petrol station (as opposed to just the regular smell of a car running rich). Weird, I\'ll have to take a look.

Also bought some Driftworks steel wheel nuts as the D1 items were rubbish. Seem to be doing the job so far.
