General Technical / Turbo Rebuild ?
August 21, 2006, 03:49:18 PM
Quote from: CraigNdoesnt sound like a turbo rebuild to me

a duff turbo usually smokes first if its so far gone and it is out of balance then they start to screm making a horific noise.

ive just sold my cossie to get a RX if its cheap there is probably a reason, and most of them are rusty.

it makes a nasty scream sound when higher then about 2000rpm

Its a mates car and for the price i am getting it would be a steal, nkown the car for quite some time and its been reliable, its either the cossie or drive my sisters yaris for a year :rollin

Anyone had a turbo rebuilt?

General Technical / Turbo Rebuild ?
August 21, 2006, 01:57:35 PM
Seen another car i might buy to see me though last year of uni, wasnt meant to go for anything else but mates got a car that i can get very cheap

Its a sierra cosworth with a nice bit of kit under the bonnet

He says the turbo needs a rebuild as it makes a cracking sound when coming down in revs and also going up, if you go up in revs slowly doesnt always do it

How much for a turbo rebuild? just want to know rough price to see if it would be an easy fix and good bargain for me...possibly bearings are dead??

Thanks :wiggle

Quote from: gsb876As Max saying give ReWorx a buzz although with your setup 10\'s and 11\'s would be better Babz  :Laugh

had it mapped with 9s and 10.5s, dont the warmer plugs make it easier to start these cars?

ever had problems starting yours with that setup?

got the EGV plugs but to be honest i am going back to Iridium plugs

The car doesnt seem to be as quick with these plugs and also get teh smell of petrol more followed by quite large flames from the exhaust on gear changes

right, who has NGK Iridium PLugs in stock, need 2 x 9s and 2 x 10.5s please

just need a template of a rotor now to fit  :Thumbsup!

got some of the EGV plugs, got them in the car but what a pain to fit, need to find an engineering place to sort out a socket to tighten the plug, got the plugs in and tightened but think they need abit more...

does anyone wanna borrow me their socket in exchange for a drink? can you give you deposit or something until i send it back...pretty please  :god   :Giggle

the NGK EGVs, are they all good for use with a car running single turbo but only 0.8 bar?
