Rotary and General Chit-Chat / without Rotary....
April 15, 2012, 09:39:26 PM
Some of you will know that, after a short flirt with Rotaries in the shape of our lovely FC EGI, we decided to move on... largely to do with too little cash and too little time. Well she\'s found a new loving owner and went yesterday so, sadly, we\'ll not make Brooklands after all (unless you\'d welcome a hairdresser - well at least its still Mazda!).

Have a great meet everybody. We\'ll remember our EGI very fondly and, if fortunes change, would love to be back......

2nd generation RX-7's / Wow! ....mpg!
April 13, 2012, 10:02:04 PM
Treated myself to a long run in my FC EGI NA today. Sussex>Tamworth>Essex>Sussex. 400 miles in all and pretty much 70/80 all the way (plus a lot of time in slow traffic) and the little beauty turned in just over 24 mpgs!

Maybe I CAN afford to keep her!!?? and take her off the market!:3gears-rh

Cars for Sale / try me...
April 11, 2012, 02:09:56 PM
As I think I said, i was planning to p/x this car with a turbo\'d MX5 but it fell through.

One way or another, the funds from this car will be recycled in the shape of another vehicle so... I might be open to decent p/x\'s..... show me yours and i\'ll show you mine ;).

I\'m in no hurry but for a hassle free quickish cash deal £1800 would press my buttons... I also have £300\'s worth of FD wheels and spacers to play with.

Thanks Val.

I\'ll try to get a more specific history prepared I the next day or two with the aid of my lad James (wheelynutz). I\'ll see if he can phone you too to answer any specific questions as he is FAR FAR more knowledgeable than I!.

Meanwhile, I re-iterate that this car is in exceptionally good condition. To my limited knowledge 7\'s fail either due to engine or rust, both expensive to remedy. Although showing 71k, this mileage has been amassed very gradually and so i\'d be very surprised if there were any serious water seal or rotor tip wear issues. The engine doesn\'t seem to miss a beat. There is no obvious compression or running issues or water loss. I have read that, cared for, these cars can make 100k without rebuild.....this may well be one such example.

On the rust front, this car is exceptional and should not be confused with the many expensive "projects" that are to be found. There are no significant issues structure or bodywork issues.

Re: Electrics: a slowish sunroof and non working rear wiper. As i don\'t take her in rain i\'ve not bothered with the latter (but might investigate now). I put the slow roof down to old age (my parts don\'t function as quickly as they did 24 years ago either lol!).

She is a real gem but she is what she is .... an old lady who\'s in great shape for her age.

This car is unexpectedly re-available. I had arranged a swap for a turbo\'d MX5 which has fallen through.

Now taxed till July and MOT\'d till March 2013 and will soon to become immortalised in print in a "Rotary feature" in the next issue of Car Magazine.

In view of the exceptional condition of this car i\'m looking for £2000.

Will be at Brooklands with MRC on 21st April if you fancy a look...

Quote from: grinder;810808thats a nice car .. and im LOVING the shocking pink wheels though .. they are ace !

maybe James (w/ntz) and me should just fit the pinkies, tax her up and go for one last ride... the trouble is, the minute I jump in THAT car and drive her again i\'ll change my mind and won\'t want to let her go!!..... my guilty pleasure. :driving

Quote from: B.Martin;785539these are the super rare late Jap spec rims!!! Awesome

Ooooh! I like super rare!! :yes A very clever find on Driftworks by my son James.... think they were available for some time till we found them. Reckon peeps were maybe put off by the "shocking pink!" ...can\'t think why? and the lime green centre caps finish the job nicely!!

Rotary and General Chit-Chat / Rotorstock - Thanks!
August 22, 2011, 07:01:38 AM
Echo everything my lad James (wheelynutz) says, we had a fabulous weekend. Thanks Clive and Lisa, sterling work for a great RS, our first of many we hope. Great fun shooting the FC down the strip, sure her slow stock speeds and my dodgy gear shifts amused a few.

Camped overnight with jamison1982, rx7danny and company... good fun, an amusing BBQ and no sleep thanks to a mindless moron pumping beats ALL night!. Mad Sunday was well worth it tho\' ... great seeing all sorts of cars rip the strip, caught up on some sleep during Monster Trucks, and was wowed by the sight of a bike doing 185mph (8secs) on the strip and literally blown over by that Jetcar!! 266mph and a 6 seconds 1/4 mile!  ouch my ears still hurt!!

Soz rx7danny...hope you made it back OK and get the diff sorted.

Till next time guys:cheers

Quote from: Lisa;773390I would say all try and get there before 9.30 or before it opens to the public which is 10.00am

Maybe a good place to all meet up is at http://motorwayservicesonline.co.uk/Rownhams at maybe 8.30am

Thanks Lisa, sounds like a good plan. We\'ll aim for Rownham\'s at 8:30 and will calculate a route and some meet times back to our point of leaving ...Pease Pottage services on the A23.
