lads, i keep seeing quotes for way lower than i can get when i search.
i will be living in Liverpool, 22 yrs old & 2 ncb. i looked into changing my irish driving licence to an english one but as i will be a student, it cant be done.
All the quotes so far are over 3K and any mods at all and its over 5k.
id love a rex but not that much!

Quote from: trotter;621357Hi Freddy mate, welcome to the site.

First things first, if you\'re gonna buy a Rex, do it with your head and not your heart!! There is horror story after horror story on here of people buying one \'because she was the one\' and ignoring some tell-tale warning signs on the test drive of bad things a-coming.

Best advice I (we) can give is spend a few hours learning up about them (from here as well as FDUK.com, rx7city.com, etc). Probably worthwhile doing a bit of a search for how rotaries actually work on Google, useful and kinda interesting - well to me as an engineer it is!!

When it comes to actually picking one, make sure you give it a good drive. Should start cleanly form both hot and cold (don\'t worry about a bit of smoke, they all do it!). Find a nice stretch of straight road and give it the beans - boost should progress smoothly between both turbos (if still sequential) with a slight dip at around 3500-4000rpm where the changeover occurs.

Also, get a compression test done before you buy. Some problems are not easily noticed but this is a simple test that will save you no end of problems!! Costs around £40 or so (try and bargain with the owner to have it done for you somehow). If any results are below about 6.0psi then you are looking at a rebuild in the not too distant future.

Thanks lad,

I heard alot of horror stories about them until i spoke to a number of people who had or still have them. most were good but the bad ones were down to lack of minding as far as i could make out.
i will be in no rush to buy and as its my first time to go rotary, i hope to get someone who has experience with them to come with me for a second look at one.

i was looking on admirals site and found two options for insuraces, both with 2626cc. one with turbo coupe and the second with twin turbo coupe.
the twin turbo coupe is alot more expensive to insure.
does anyone know the difference between the two?
i am less than 10 weeks away from buying my first 7 so im looking at insurance now.
any help would be appreciated.
