3rd generation RX-7's / Oil Coolers
July 17, 2014, 07:15:03 PM
The base and touring models came with one oil cooler, the R1, R2 etc. came with 2 at least in the US spec models, so I would assume they would be the same for all models.

3rd generation RX-7's / Air Pump

My understanding is the air pump is used mostly for startup.  Once the car CAT heats up the air pump really doesn\'t do much.

When I built my new motor I had the twins rebuilt and the wastegates ported.  I\'m driving the car a couple of times a week to work and to car shows.  The driveability of the car is why I stayed with the twins.  I wanted about 350hp so the twins were fine for my application.

Any pics of these wheels, I\'m in the states but would love to buy them.  Send me a PM if interested in selling.

3rd generation RX-7's / Welcome back

Guess it\'s par for the course when dealing with older cars.  Good luck on the upgrades and should be very nice when done.

I think 25k is conservative.  Last time I looked in the states to update an FD to a 20b was about 35k us dollars.  The engine is just one piece of the puzzle.  The suspension, trans rear end diff all those things need to be considered when trying to put done that much power.  Good luck on this project and keep us updated on your plans.

No, the key needs to be on in order to turn the fans on.  At least for US spec models.

3rd generation RX-7's / Engine
September 03, 2010, 12:43:54 PM
Quote from: RERX7;714629hi there i\'m just woundering if i wanna take out the engine from my rx7 do i have to remove the transmission? or i can just get the engine out without doing anything to the tranmission?

does the engine wiring harness need to come out? as i read few thread some said it needs to come out some say it doesnt?

thx guys!

As stated above, the trans bolts are hard to remove sometimes.  I dropped mine from the bottom, just raised the car after removal and I had a nice package sitting on the floor.  The harness does need to be removed from the ECU.  Unless you take the top half of the motor off then you can unplug everything and let it stay in the car.  Removing the wire harness is fairly easy to do compared to the rest.  Good luck.

As previously stated you need to remove the door panel.

3rd generation RX-7's / Mirror removal
August 02, 2010, 08:52:07 PM
You need to remove the door panels to remove the mirrors.  You cannot remove the speakers either unless you remove the panel.  They are easy to remove, just make sure you remove all hidden screws first.  The passengers side has a tricky one.  You need to pull the window switch out and it is tucked under it.  Both sides have a screw in under the door handle pulls.

3rd generation RX-7's / Stock/Kitted

I think that blue one looks perfect, the stance is what I\'m going for on mine.  I would stay close to stock, some FEED style sideskirts lowered some good wheels and nice front lip and a type RZ wing.

3rd generation RX-7's / Electrical Issue
July 27, 2010, 12:23:08 PM
The clutch pedal has an inhibit switch.  The switch is known to break.  The plunger on it is plastic and if that does break the car will not start, it won\'t turn over nothing.  You might want to check it.

3rd generation RX-7's / On the road

Glad to see that you\'re fixing her.  As one poster stated too much parting happening with these cars.  I finally got mine back on the road after 4.5 years.  Nothing well almost nothing feels better to drive than a well sorted FD.

3rd generation RX-7's / Charge Relief

The drawing looks correct for US spec as well.  Can\'t believe that section would be any different.  Doesn\'t invlove emissions so maybe the german manual was just translated poorly.
