You could contact knightsports and see what the ECU is mapped for. Thats what i did with mine when i was running a knightsports ECU.

General Technical / is the rx7 engine a 1.3 or not

I thought it was done on swept volume. So basically with one revolution of the engine the front rotor will fire on two of its chambers and the back rotor will fire on two of its chambers. So 650x2 for the front + 650x2 for the rear = 2600.

Took a visit to hayward on tuesday for a check over and tune. Was extremely pleased with a top service from a very friendly bunch of lads.
Cant wait to get a time at pod now and hit the track days :-)

Iv had a good search but not yet found any clear cut info. Im looking to do the fuel pump re-wire but unsure of which method to use or how to do it. Iv heard its possible to use a spare electrical source in the fuse holder and link it across to the fuel pump relay. Or you can wire in a new relay direct off the battery and to the pump. Which method is best and how exactly is it done?

She is a Brian nuttal terrier and a cracking little dog as well. Id love to see her win so would really appreciate all your help.

Much thanks Adam and Fern (the dog)

Well having discovered that a regular piston engine tester is far from accurate im hoping there is someone close to norfolk or even in norfolk who has one and would be so kind as to let me check my compression. I can travel to you and will pay for your time.

General Technical / Which compression tester??
July 29, 2010, 04:41:37 PM
Quote from: clive;707355Hi Adam,

You will need a tester with the decompression button on the side, I think Halfords sell the Guystone one like this

If you would like to follow the link below it will tell you hot to use a conventional tester on a Rotary

Hope this helps

Hi clive. Yeah im aware of the need to have a decompression button. Have you used the halfords one? Whats it like if so mate?
Oh and i can\'t see the link :(
Cheers for the help

General Technical / Which compression tester??
July 28, 2010, 06:05:06 PM
Gonna get myself a compression tester, not the specialist rotary one but a typical piston engine style one. Just wondering if there are any suggestions as to any that people find work well with a rotary.

General Technical / for people running 850 primarys

Quote from: turbotoaster;705474well if you want any advice for setting them up before you take it to be mapped im more than happy to help.

i spent a little bit of time tuning with stock primarys before i fitted the 850cc so i had some experience which helped alot but anyone can map a car, i was expecting it to be much harder than it was.

My car seems to like 14.0-14.1afr idle the best but i cant quite get it that close with 850cc but close enough that it will be fine.

tuning on 550cc is easy because the basemap isnt far off in terms of fueling for cruise and boost, just needed a bit of tweaking.

But because you have to add alot of lag for the 850cc it means pretty much your entire fuel map is wrong, this has taken me a bit of time to get right because im tuning purely off the commander.

id recommend them for a cheap fuel upgrade, they cost me £30 plus £10 for someone to machine my rail as i dont own a milling machine anymore.

Assuming your pump can cope, having fuelling up to 420-430bhp for that money is very good value, enough to cover you all the time your on twins.

The only issue i can think off with this is if you are decatted, you wont be able to get your idle lean enough to pass an MOT, ive left my cat in the shed so when i go for my MOT next year ill stick it back on and see if it will let me pass

Sweet cheers dude. Thats really kind of you :) Im in the motions of soucing some parts and once i have everything it will all be going in together then off for mapping. would be nice to have some advice on setting up the 850\'s for the drive to the mapper though.

Cheers Buddy.

I dont have the 850\'s in yet mate. And i shall leave the fiddling of the tune to someone who knows what they are doing. I dont have the confidence to do it myself.
Just wondered what yours were like with the 850\'s

Quote from: turbotoaster;705051yeh strangly enough i could sit them flush and bolt the cover over without there being any gaps, i was unaware there was an issue for some people until i read about it.

by a/r do you mean air ratio, ie fueling?

If so then im running in the low 70% inj duty range, mid 13s idle, low 14s cruise and mid 11s full boost.

When i get a chance to hop on the motorway in the future ill work on my motorway map and get it to around low 15s for fuel economy.

If you on about something else let me know lol

Yeah i was on about your air fuel ratio. just wondered if you had got your idle air fuel ratio better.

Quote from: turbotoaster;704593looking at other peoples pics of the rail once its been machined it looks like ive taken more off than they did so maybe thats the difference, i just took 3.1mm off with the miller, so maybe other people took less off im not sure

I did the same as you mate. Took 3.1mm off. I shall just counter sink it so they sit flush.

How the a/r going?

Quote from: SmbFD3S;704586I countersunk mine too as found the same thing and didn\'t seat properly... Have removed them from the car and back running 550\'s for the time being as getting them cleaned/flow tested with another set so they\'re balanced as something wasn\'t right....

Worth getting them done before you put them in the car mate :)

Did yours sit like this pre counter sinking them?

Ok cheers mate. Mine needs counter sinking as the injectors dont sit flush with the rail. Just wondered if yours was the same.
