I had this great question in from Matt Olver via email, and I thought it was really worth posting up onto the Forum:

Hi Glenn,

I\'m a registered user of the mazdarotaryclub forum and i wonder whether you could give me some help. I\'ve always believed in doing work on my cars myself and i have become very good at it on my previous cars.

I\'m now wanting to buy and tune a Gen 3 Rx7, however, i\'m a bit confused. I understand the rotary principle, and i\'m trying to \'learn\' the rotary engine before i go out and buy one, so if there\'s anything wrong with it straight away i can diagnose it, but learn a *brand new* engine from scratch is very difficult.

Do you know anywhere where i can get some good, in depth information on rotary engines, web pages, books, videos, anywhere? I\'ve looked about on the forum, but the information on there isn\'t really aimed for the beginner.

Thanks for any help

Matt
Thanks,

Matt,

Some good sites for information here:

http://travel.howstuffworks.com/rotary-engine.htm - well worth the look through.

//www.mazda.com - is also very good for information and videos on the engine.

http://www.rotaryengineillustrated.com/  - a little more technical.  Pic. from Blake\'s site:

There are a stack of sites here:

If you have any specific questions Matt - please post them in this thread.
Thanks,
