OK, I\'m after some info please :wave

I\'m fitting a single turbo and installing a PFC all after a rebuild - what I need to know is what wiring, vacuum pipes and solenoids can I lose :D and more importantly which bits do I need to keep!

Hi Mike,
sorry i forgot about your PM until i saw this thread.   I got rid of ALL the solanoids under the plenum,  I have a vacume line to the fuel press reg, one to the external wastegate, one to the electronic boost controller one to the map sensor and one to each oil injector.   I cut all the plugs and wires out of the loom and sealed the wires to ensure no shorts.  Obviously the two duty solanoids are gone and all the associated vacume pipes.   One of the best bits (apart from the extra power) of going single is the much simpler engine bay and no unfindable falts in amongst the nest of pipes.  The wiring loom is also much smaller and lighter and again easier should you get a fault.  You only need plugs for the TPS, Map sensor, four injectors, air temp, knock sensor and fuel temp if you use it.    I cant think of anything else but i may have forgotten something which i\'m SURE someone will be only too glad to point out!

Good luck, its definately worth it.

400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

this is ur stock engine
when your life is a mess light one more ciggaret its so logical!

yonner

this is it once u have got rid off all that emitions and seqential pish.

as for electronics jsut waht controlls the solenoids can be removed but thers not mtuch point there not a nusence jsut tape them up into the loom

The sequential set up is attached to the turbo pack and actuators (x3) which will go anyway.      If you dont sort the wires out properly you risk damaging a valuable ECU, if the wires get wet or touch something they shouldnt you could short out the PFC.

One other thing i just thought of, blank off the idle control valve (i think thats what its called) its on the lower inlet manifold above the turbos.  It works with the air pump which will also probably go.

what do i do with all the niples left??? can i cut them of and tig them up???

or leave them to breath?

the three in the lower inlet manifld just go through and are not part of the inlet so leave them. All the others block off.

so the 3 on the back of the lim 2 stubby 1ns and the 1 bent 1?

cant remember but they are next to each other, blow through them and you will they are just mazda\'s way of saving plumbing by casting them in the manifold.  They dont actually connect into the lim.   Any others that would other wise leak air and boost from the manifold then block it.

Mike

Thanks guys! A great help. If you remember anything else keep posting....

So all solenoids go... good. So with all these solenoids gone, and the vacuum lines gone and only one turbo to worry about the PFC has an easy life. :D

Here\'s what i used....  PIp at WGT said it would be ok....

MillSpeed

antnicuk, did you remove the wires all the way back to the ECU and then re-wrap the loom or just cut the plugs off and seal the ends? Are there any wires that need to be joined or connected to a 12v feed or can you really just hack out the redundant bits? Cheers.

antnicuk

Mike,  forgot too mention,  vacume pipe to BOV.

Millspeed,  as for the loom,  cut them out as far back as you can, i did it until i was clear of the engine.  Then seal the ends. Cant see any reason why you cant go right back to the ecu, but if you clear the engine it makes it easier to run the loom around the top of the engine.

All the plugs are either one or two wires from the ecu so are just going to the ecu, i dont remember any that need connecting to anything, just remember to get good earth connections.
