hi guys.

two weeks tomorrow....

now, the motor has just been rebuilt 50kms ago (:D ) and i\'m wondering about running it in. I did a quick search and found this advice from fish to a fellow forum member:

"Only rev to 3000rpm, oil change at 500 miles, then increase rpm x100 per 100 miles...Oil and plug changes every 3000 miles."

this is the kind of advice i\'m after, but could someone confirm if it\'s the same for a NA 13b bridgeport?

sorry if it\'s a dumb question...

It varies - ask the guy who built the engine...

How long did the previuos engine last out of interest - any ideas?

no idea. i\'ll ask the seller.
according to the seller the car hasn\'t been used much for years - about 300km pa for the last few years!! just trailer\'d to and from shows:D

More old rotors that dont see the like of day. What a waste :(

Still, u can redress the balance here at least :)

I run mine in like this:-

First 1000 miles not above 4000rpm.  (I usually make a route up that will encompass several different rd types so that the revs are changing all the time, dont just hold it at your limit, vary your engine speed around it.)
Also dont WOT it to 4000rpm for the first 1000 miles either!

After this I usually move the limit to 6000rpm and resume \'normal\' driving, then around 1200-1250 I remove my limit and drive it as normal.

Over this period and I find upto the first 2500-3000miles you will feel the engine getting stronger as the seals bed in etc.

Check oil every journey too, make sure its using some!  Change oil after first 750-1000miles, change filter too.

Hi Gord,
It really depends on whether it has carbon apex seals and also new bearings too.
If you let me know I\'ll give you an idea.
Kind regards
Carl
