Hi,

I was thinking about buying this boost guage:

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/catalogue/product_detail.asp?CLS=MSPORT&TLGRP=M004&CODE=smiimp1383221b&PGRP=MC055&GRP=MC055&PCODE=SMIIMP1383221B

Is it fairly easy to fit a boost guage yourself?   Is there a thread with some fitting advice anywhere (I couldn\'t find it with search)

Thanks
Luciano

on a FD im sure it fits onto a nipple on the engine and then that pipe goes onto the back of the gauge

Not a great fan of the boost gauge you\'ve chosen though Luciano !!!!!!

Good luck with the fitting.

Thanks for the link and advice!  Very useful.  I think next weekend I\'ll put one in and let you know how I get on.

As far as the guage goes, why don\'t you like it? Is it on visual or quality grounds?

My criteria for a guage is:

max of 1.5 bar (no point going higher with my std car)
black rimmed (I have black rimmed dash dials not chrome)
Cheap (I\'m tight)

If you know where I can get a better one please suggest as I haven\'t bought this one yet!!

As a side note I haven\'t decided where to fit it yet, was thinking about A pillar as I don\'t like the pods in the centre speaker area, and I\'m not sure the column mount place looks right either.

Cheers

I fitted a 30psi one to my GT-Four and got that from R-Tec, a local supplier when I lived in St. Albans. It was white with black gradings and numbers and cost about £30. I\'m sure they do the reverse in colour.
The one you\'ve picked is OK, it\'s just that a Blitz 60mm one went on Ebay for £51 yesterday, so for a few quid more you could have a phat one. Cheap is good Luciano, I always try and do things that way !!!
I\'m looking for a 20psi one, \'cos as yourself my car is standard in that department too.
I\'m looking to get a 2 pillar A pod mount and have a boost gauge and probably an oil temp gauge (so I know when I can floor it after start up). The centre speaker gauge pods look good but my radar detector lives there !

Chris, your steering column dial is pretty nice, although I have to admit I was distracted by your 300 *mph* speedo!!

I have a close friend who works at R-tec, and I\'ll be in that area this weekend, so I\'ll have a look there.

I keep checking ebay but haven\'t seen one I like, it has to be 1.5bar/20psi max.

Oil temp gauge good idea,  will look into it.

Thats a 300 kmph speedo with a MPh sticker over it isnt it?  Slightly off subject.  I used to visit R-Tec a few years back when I owned a Calibra, which was a pretty heavily modded sack a spuds! :rollin  Anyway, I took it to R-Tec to fit Koni Adjustables and the chap workin on it wrecked my original Vauxhall alloys trying to chisle off the locking wheel nuts when the key snapped on the first wheel - which they told me was normal (uh-huh!) - I\'d had the vauxhall produced lockin nuts fitted about 5 months before and theyd never been off the car).  Then when he\'s finished the job 6 hours later, he put the original shocks on my rear seat, and straight through the leather upholstery!  Strangely, I have never been back.  :reallymad
I\'m not bitter tho!  :rollin  ;)  :wave

Yep, but he\'s probably had the electronic conversion so it now reads mph...  so he now has a 300 mph speedo.

eyedee

Mine reads the same and has been converted to MPH.  Dont think I\'ll ever get the dial round to the BIG number though ;)
