Hi there,

Just bought an import, that was personally imported last year. It hasn\'t been undersealed for the wonderful UK winters, I guess just the standard splash+dash that the Jap cars tend to have.

What is the normal underseal that is used under the car and in panels? Is there some industry standard stuff that should be used, or is a tub of good ol\' Waxoil good enough?

Cheers,
Andrew

I think the best stuff is Dinitrol (spelling???), but any bodyshop should know what to use.

the best stuff is the self healing type that only drys on the outside and doesn\'t have the risk of rust forming under the underseal (a common problem)

Dinitrol is so weerd its like alive if it douse get chiped it has magnetic enzimes whitch draw the gap together it feels like skin aswell lol

Guys,

Do you definately need to have the car sealed underneath?

underseal ain\'t essential but does make a big difference to the likelihood fo the rust monster eating your car.

I could be wrong, but I think the jap cars do get undersealed, unfortunately they do the undersealing, then bolt on the running gear etc so that doesn\'t get undersealed.  I\'ve been meaning to do mine but not got round to it so will be watching this thread for suppliers and prices.  Happy to do it myself rather than paying a bodyshop so just need the stuff to paint on.

that dinitrol stuff sounds funky.

my uk supplied 323 has no underseal on it (only under the arches) and neither did my rally car and neither did my other jap import 323 and its the same case with my UK supplied \'old\' rx too.

underseal is quite a good idea if you plan to use your car rain or shine

did ask this when i imported mine & i think the concensus was if it\'s done well then good plan long terms but getting it imaculately clean & done perfect is the challenge i passed at the time but the "Dinitrol" sounds interesting......:god

Mine\'s not undersealed but I make sure to wash off all mud and salt from under the car in winter (at least every weekend if it has been out during the week).

I got Waxoil on mine, seems to do the job nicely :)

Saw some Dinitrol yesterday. Says was based sealing system - so pretty similar to Waxoyl, I presume.
