Hi Guys,

Ok, this is driving me crazy so I need to sort it out soon!

My rex has a Sony radio/cassette head unit fitted in place of the OEM one, with a removable facia.

The problem is at 3-4k rpm the resonance in the car starts it vibrating and making a buzzing noise. Firstly I thought it was the facia vibrating against the main body of the stereo, but if you take it off it still happens.

A bit of investigation revealed that if I press my finger against the plastic behind the facia just below the hole where the tape goes in the noise stops - so there must be vibration between this sheet of plastic behind the facia and the guts of the stereo itself....

I\'ve tried sticky foam pads on this spot hoping that the pressure of the back of the facia against the plastic would stop it but no...

So does anyone have any ideas? I\'m loathed to junk the head unit as I have a nice 10-disc sony changer in the boot and (suprise suprise) different manufacturer\'s head units and changers can\'t talk to each other :(

Any advice much appreciated!

Cheers,
Alex

ps pics to follow if it helps...

May seem obvious, but...
take it out, make sure that the cage is secured properly and then put it back in, making sure that the unit is clicked in at both sides and that you have the bolt and rubber bung at the back secured into the brace behind the unit.

Hope that helps.

Cheers Gregor, but it\'s in really snug - the whole unit itself is fine, as it\'s the plastic front behind the facia vibrating against the body of the unit...

Oh well, time for a nice DAB tuner and I\'ll forget about the CD changer!

Shark

have you tried taking that fascia off and seeing if there\'s anything you can do to secure it more tightly?

seems a shame to start over...

Yeah, I\'ve put double-sided foam pads on the bit behind the facia to try and squeeze everything together snugly but a trip out yesterday revealed it hadn\'t worked :(

I know it\'s a shame to have to junk it and start over so I\'ll try a few more things before I resort to that...

Cheers,
Alex
