Ebay RX7 - its back!

This is the one we looked at about 4 weeks ago, at a traders garage..... admittedly a very nice car, but this is the one that is sold as a 2002, but carries a 1999 chassis plate! Not saying at all that it is anything wrong with it, but we never did get an explanation for the chassis number discrepancy!! We walked away.......

Anyone thinking of bidding.......ask some serious questions first!!

This may contradict things mentioned, but when a car is registered over here from Japan, they need the Japanese registration document, which will have the year of manufacture, chassis number etc on it, this is then given an age related plate. I am not sure how they can con the DVLA.

This could be because the car is produced in 1999 but only registeed in Japan in 2002 thats why could this happend. i heard story about this before

6 months  ago i can still get a brand new un register FD from Japan for a mega price

Its one possibility. Long time to be left unregistered, though?

If thats the case, then someone ends up being conned, with it being sold as a 2002 car, "one of the last", when in reality it is nothing of the sort.

Oh yes, the original seller, also said that the safety tag on the seat belt said tested in 2002. So the comment above can\'t be right!

I know its probably too late and of no interest but if you quote the chassis number to my local mazda garage they will tell you the year it was made, unless that is what you have already done.

Number was FD3S-505xxx, which dates it to a "version 5" 1999-2000.
