Right had a look at the job in hand today, raining earlier so couldn\'t make a start!!!

But seems quite straight forward can do the painting without taking the brake calipers off:)  problem is i have the crappy jack that comes with the car so 1 wheel at a time............ doh!!!

Gonna paint the caliper place wheel back on, then move around the car like so, and leave it standing till tomorrow by which time all should be dry???

I\'ve just done mine red :) on a white car with (for the min) white wheels. Looks very nice. As for the kits, don\'t follow the instructions.

They say pour the whole of the two tins together. Waste of paint if you do this, plus you will have to rush in the application. Use a desert spoon to measure out the paint and the hardener (mine was 3 paint, 1 hardener). This should easily do two calipers (up front first, then rears). I\'ve done 6 calipers with my 20 quid kit and still have enough for more !

Get a wire brush on an electric drill (not the cup type of brushes - except for the inside of the rear caliper) and remove as much gunk as possible. Since all the brakes are aluminium you will find there is a nice smell coming off the caliper :) .

Do the brake disc as well (did mine with engine block black, comes in a small tin. very thin). The fronts are the best place to start, much easier to paint, less odd shapes. Best brush to use is the old style art brushs, not too big to get paint everywhere. Makes a nice job.

Do 2 coats and will make a nice shiney caliper. You will find the paint is starting to go off once you have done 2 calipers !

Hope this helps, i knew i should have taken some pics while i was doing it ! lol

I did mine with the standard jack ! will take about an hour and a bit for each wheel. Watch the wet paint whn you put the wheel back one !

No problem, main thing is to do the paint mixing in small quantities

Hammerite.  Hard as you like, easily tolerates the heat, and is about £4 a can.

btw - I\'d say red, as most of the detaily bits on the car from stock are red, and as the wheels are gold, it\'ll confuse the impact.

You know I\'m right, and you know you jhave to trust me on pretty stuff...:D

I originally used hammerite. Yes it is a cheap option, but it takes forever to dry. It fades quicker than the caliper stuff. Plus it doesn\'t give as bright a colour. Found caliper paint alot better. I have wondered if the stuff can be bought from a professional paint shop for alot less !

Unless you like the flames coming out from the alloys look i would avoid the use of radiator paint, mind you it might keep your pads nice and snug! ;)

Radiatior paint? Have you painted your house to match your car? Is that not taking it a bit far? :D
