Donor car is back in

Still not sure to do about the turbo
Clives type
Wait for the 8474 another 8 weeks or get the 8374 which is in stock
Really not sure
I'm meantime need to sort the intercooler out - V mount
I have enough room for 500 wide - 300 deep so thinking at least 85 mm thickness or more
Is there a capacity guide I should be looking for ?

Ha ha
Having seen their manifolds I wouldn't bother
A grand for 2 pipes with a Flange
Having read up , the 91** is a bit big too  .
Thanks for the heads up
I found someone who can make my intercooler
Just need to get my manifold changed/ adapted  over the next 3 weeks and we should be on it

Just checked the website, its not a top dog turbo either, only makes 550 rwhp at 25 psi lol.

So long as you use a good quality core for your IC then it will work well

120mm thick?
Know that an intercooler can be too thick sometimes, as impedes air flow through it bit there's plenty things to do to make the air go through it properly though.

Vibrant do cores you can buy to make your own IC, few other companies do also.

Intercooling defo where you can make or break achieving hp. Getting that air density back after its been heated up by the turbo is key

If they say it's good for that then they know best easiest way iv always thought of checking how good an intercooler works if you don't have a billion sensors is those stick on thermometers, like they use to give you at school.

I used to work for a company who's owner, Lawrence tomlinson, owns ginetta race cars, well I was having a good look around one of the LMP cars, this was about 15 years ago, and I noticed that on the huge brakes they ran they had those same stick on thermometers. I asked why they used them and they said it was a simple and cheap way to monitor brake temps when the car pitted. Lol. Good enough for a 250k car then good enough for us poor peolle

I'm in no need for parts right now, currently trying to summise whether I finish the mx5 or take the money required to get the car perfect and buy a fully built chassis. Just waiting on a reply from a friend that has just the thing lol

Mr Spiller

Dropped it up for the manifold and downpipe fabrication last night
Great fun towing a car on an AA tow bar at 7pm when it's dark with no loom or brake pipes .
Took a beer with me
Missies asked why , my  reply
Well it'll either be to celebrate we made it or my last before I get locked up lol
Lucky it's only a mile away ....
made it there
Good bit of kit the AA bar , he was able to push me back up his street in reverse too

I've been lucky enough to borrow Pete's manifold and turbo so I can adapt mine and to get a snug fit for down pipe too .
Once it's done I should be able to order the Intercooler
By then. I may have my own turbo
Thankfully a bit of progress

re japi

Thats a quite a big turbo

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Progress quite interesting where the turbos end up having to sit in an rx8 with all the stuff they have in the engine bay
