Sooooo.... If only I had a welder, knew how to weld, had a milling machine, an angled drill press and my injectors which are still in australia I'd be able to modify this inlet manifold for my fuel rails.

So I had an apiphony the other day when I came across turblown dyno video where this land speed rx8 they are building/tuning is running on methanol with 8 x 2200 cc injectors and is making 650rwhp.... Albeit on a renesis block, and they were running out of fuel as they didn't have enough injector

I was thinking 4 x 2200 injectors would suffice however I was wrong even though I know you need at least 30% more methanol to make the same hp as you would with regular petrol.

So I'm going to run 10 x 2200 cc injectors, 8 in the UIM and 2 in the factory location on the LIM

Hopefully this will be more than enough to achieve 600hp on this engine

Saw that vid too. It was just grazy. Lots of burning stuff going into housings

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Forgive my ignorance on this topic, I'm a bit more of an analogue fella on carbs etc

I'm assuming 2200cc injectors are the largest you can get?

Can you get bigger ones or does it not work that way.

As for the welding, I was wondering if there was any benefit to making your fuel rail/injector set up as a little sub assembly, off the uim first, get all your angles correct and then weld the addy to the uim after.

I wish I knew more about this modern efi malarkey lol

No there are bigger injectors, these 2200cc  work out roughly 210 pph (pounds per hour)

Billet atomizer injectors do an injector that does 1000pph which are 450 us dollars each.

The ones I'm using are 90 aus dollars each

I know your going to think well they're 4 times the price but flow 4 times the amount which is right, but I'd rather replace a £90 injector if it went caput rather than a 450 one

The fuel rails will all detach from the UIM anyway as you need to be able to take it off. There will be a tab welded on which will will bolt the rail down as it will have up to 100 psi fuel pressure at full boost

Christ yeah i agree with your sentiment there.

All i can say is fingers crossed  :13:

Just dropped my fuel rails off to be shortened and have  - 10 bungs welded on each end

Also dropped my turbo manifold off to get the Wastegate dump tubes and flange done

My Christmas presents from JBR are now on there way

So then
This porting witch craft
Is that the amount you take out and chamfer - round back to the original or do you ha e markers for how far to go at the back ?

Yeh you scribe around that shape and port it out but you have to be careful as there are water jackets you can go into, not exactly sure how much to take out bu I prety sure you do it an angle and blend it into the existing port bowl

Slowly figuring out how I'm getting these bosses on. Think we need a milling machine to mill it flat

Still got the second set of bosses to cut

Here is also the turbo exhaust port template

Rx8 plates are way different to these. You have got a job on getting the exhaust porting right without dropping into the water passage
