So the good news......

New rear screen arrived today free of charge without any defects in the marguard coating!

They even cut the vent holes in and primered the border

The not so good news

I need a power bulge in the bonnet to clear the throttle body.

To be honest an easy mistake... all the dry runs of fitting the bonnet I had the spring release catches fitted on the back edge.

When I pressed down to secure it,  I thought it was resistance on the springs..... turns out the bonnet was flexing over the throttle body too.

I didn't know this until I tried fitting the bonnet without the springs fitted on the back and it's stuck up in the air .... Hmmmm

Ah well these things happen. I'll just have to make it look pretty again

Jamie, where did you get the rear air scoopy things.

If I get around to fitting a plastic rear screen to save weight, this will be a good way of getting air out from the cabin.

Hi Clive,

I bought a whole set ( rear screen, door "glass" and door quarters.

The door glass come with sliders.

There's 3 options, clubman, pro and and wrc

I went middle of the road.

The rear scoops used as vents come from the same place.

All In 5mm thick with the marguard coating

Wasn't cheap at nearly 1000 for the whole kit inc vat. But the weight saving is impressive and 500 times stronger than glass at the same thickness

RX8 is closer to 1300 for the same spec for all doors and rear screen. Front screen is around 500 but you'll need steel supports as it will flex from the oncoming air and the wipers won't clear screen. The kits come msa and fia compliant

Thanks Jamie, I wouldn't need sides and would stay with a new glass screen. Rear would save a bit of weight.

They do sell the rear screen for the 8 separately
