So I'm waiting on some engine bits, so an hour to kill before I attack the lawn

Spare 192 plates in the shed....

Gonna have a go at porting the exhaust. First stab at it. Watched plenty of vids time and again.

Opening the port sooner without breaking into the water jacket and smoothing out that shelf where the carbon always builds up.

I don't have any decent sized grinding stones so can't grind it smooth so it's what the carbide bits in the die grinder will leave behind.

I've no idea whether what I've done is good bad or indifferent. But I didn't go into the water jacket and there's a relatively smooth transition and radius going into the runner.

It's just like colouring books..... just don't go over the lines !

Looking good mate!

That carbon collector place is anoying always makes you want to grind it hard and  open it

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Well done but don't forget to put a small chamfer to take away the sharp edges.
All the best Clive

Duly noted.  :13:

Ive ordered some die grinder sanding cartridges that will smooth out the carbide burr marks on it.

Then Ill do the 231 plates and get it nice and smooth then run a needle file round the holes to chamfer.

Bugger, I forgot to say that. Good thing that clive remember to say it

I have small "diamond" files that are good for little detailing

Oh, and then theres one custom sandpaper thingy, that I get idea from Aston. Ill take a pic, cause its too difficult me to explain it

You didn't need these  ;)

Ported all sorts of engines for years, using this device.

Take a 10mm bolt, cut the head off, then cut a 30mm slot down the end.
Buy a roll of strip emery cloth, put it down the slot, then roll it around the stud.
Stick the plain end in a drill and away you go   :great:

To be honest, the Rotus engine isnt the only engine im going to be porting, I have lots of other car and bike projects in the pipeline so the kit will come in useful.
I could have bought the kit in the pic from over the pond for $110 with minimal parts, or the kit ive bought for less than £60 with loads in. So im quids in.

The first corner of the opening edge of the exhaust port on the renny is around a 4mm radius, so a 10mm bolt with sandpaper is gonna be too big in diameter and that crappy corner that carbon builds up on will have no chance, the tapered sanding cones will be ideal.
