The brake switch is normally open in the brake pedal off position..when you press the brake an internal spring and plunger come out and the switch closes. And brake lights come on...on newer cars there is another switch for cruise control or summit...not a concern for you.
Also the Pcm has an input from the brake pedal for the pcm 20 brake stomp reset procedure.

Clutch same deal but inputs into pcm to raise rev sorta anti stall inconjuntion with the gearbox neutral switch.

But if going to map it id highly recommend a base idle increase to 1100rpm. An then the clutch switch is redundant.

Okies.....

I’ll stick with the stock switches.... already lined up big Pete for some spares as can’t find mine, I’ll cut the brackets off the stock pedal boxes and weld them to the new pedal box

Need a whole assembly that can slide forward n back to suit the shorter driver.

Loud pedal needs to move with it to.

Mocked it up in ply. Will transfer the dims to summat more substantial.

Off to wales tomoz to see in the new year

Try n get the brake in throttle pedal as close together as poss...and maybe fatten the throttle pedal with some alloy plate to make heel toe easier..i struggled with my little size 8 feet and race boots..

I’ve seen various techniques.

Do YOU literally put ball of your foot on brake and heel on the loud pedal.

I’ve seen ppl rolling their foot to the right also.

Tbf moving the accelerator closer helps as I can shift the whole assembly to the right the column can run above but between the clutch n brake

OBP do an extended wider brake pedal to make heel n toe easier but I could just move the go faster one inwards

Soz got engrossed in a film...
My little 8 feet cant do the toe brake heel blip throttle...my ankle joint clicks badly so i brake with big toe and role little toe side of foot onto accelerator. Hence need for closeness.
Plenty of you tube how tos.

Im learning left foot braking at mo as the civic has no lsd...its weird as plenty of feel in tight foot for brake modulation but zero in left foot...

I remember learing to ride a motorbike and it felt alien...but ive not been on a bike for 8 years plus and i just know i could get on and ride....
Try it on way to work?

Yeah I've tried down the lanes and just face planted the steering wheel trying to" blip the brake" or rev the tits off it on hard braking lol

It's not impressive in front of people......

.... Practice makes perfect I guess

Thing is never needed it other than mechanical sympathy until i got the westy....then thing was frustratingly undrivable as every time on track braking and downshifting to enter a corner id brake downshift turn in and then rear would lock and sideways...
Not very fast atall lol.

I suppose as a rotary it likes to rev anyway. It's not like your gonna jump a tooth on a cam belt when you let the clutch out. Locking up the back end is summat completely out there..... You need to eat a few more turkeys buddy and keep it planted lol.

Once perfected I'm sure it's very satisfying.

The amount of cars on the roads today makes it nigh on impossible to find a stretch of road to be able to be hard on the brakes for the next corner without Doris in her Citroen c1 getting in the way and start indicating left and then turning right, then becoming a victim of my vile temper and you realise it's probably not her fault. We've all followed a French turd with dodgy electrics.

The roads around Rhayader going out over elan valley (see what I did there? ) are impressive. But the Welsh authorities do love a speed camera or three. Not being derogatory Wayne, but having coppers in the family and the stories I hear, I'm sure a few Welsh coppers have bets on how many English drivers they can book in a month loll.

One thing I have noticed with the 8 is it wants you to lose your licence lol. It wants to rev, you want to oblige and you find yourself breaking the law in every gear.  If when you get to 60 or 70 and you lift off, instead of a buzzer from the car you almost hear a little sigh of disappointment. The 8 is like the naughty kid who used to live down the road that your parents hated. He dares you to do it, and you do, then you get in trouble, and he sherks the responsibility onto you....

Anyway, I'm now warbling, it's time to get up and have some meds

When getting right position for those pedals, if you are going to do heal and toe thingie, remember that your are braking allready when you try to flip accelerator...

Bugger, that sounded weird...

I mean, accelerator should be positioned quite low when its off. Dammit! I cant explain it...

If you are allready on the brake pedal, you foot just wont go so up high...

Dammit!!! I just cant explain what I mean, hope you understand my point?

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

re japi

My opinion is that, that accelator pedal should be in vertical position. And a bit further front of the brake pedal. However, when you at full throttle, it goes to weird position, so some kind of hinge thingie is needed.

Anyhoo, heal and toe is quite hard to master correctly, so wouldnt worry about that...

Also Jon said about left foot braking. In track racing, especially with rear wheel drive cars it isnt so important...

I’d get the Bigger throttle pedal base . I put the OMP one on my 8 , don’t put the throttle pedal too close to the brake mind . I did just that , hit the brakes hard going into bobbies at the RX8 OC track day earlier this year , big size 12 also caught the throttle sending the car sideways towards the big tyres on entry .it was rather close lol , straight back to pits move it back 10 mm and it was much better , 12 mm was perfect . As Mr boasted said , it also depend on size of foot , footwear etc . I only heel on downshift braking to keep the rear a bit more stable

Thanks Wayne, jarno, and Jon.

I'll have a play in the new year.

Gotta make an aluminium tray to mount it all on first.

I hate chequer plate in cars, but it's the only piece large enough I have laying around that will do.

Mounting these pedals on a piece of 1.2mm thick fibreglass floor ain't gonna do much in terms of feel and is probably dangerous .....

So idea.....

Rather than move the accelerator further back to go even further into the headers I’ll make a jig to locate the pedal position on relation to the brake on the 8.

Rotate the accelerator about the pedal and move the mounting forward which allows me to easily move the pedal back and give clearance on the headers.... the wiring for the fly by wire can then stay in the cockpit.

OK, this will be like teaching granny how to suck eggs, but I have said this to many people many times.

Having  built many cars from a body shell upwards, to me the very first job is getting the seat, pedals and steering wheel in the correct position, because changes after can be difficult and obviously if the three items aren't suited to you then you will not drive the car comfortably and more importantly "quickly"

Even on the RX-8 I remember making three sets of seat brackets before I was happy with the position.

I also use a packer on top of the brake pedal.

Years ago with throttle cables I even used to change pivot positions so I could feel the throttle how I wanted.
All the best Clive
