Lol in a good way ? Or ya not convinced?

I need to put something on top. It was getting too pointy in the middle to clear the engine.

Breaks it up a bit I thought.

There will be a cut out at the back to try n cool the exhaust a bit. Either the renesis cover or a naca duct.

The outer edge of the cover matches the contour of the bonnet quite well....... it will do for now lol

It’s all annoying me now.

Got the basic shape, but I’m being really fussy about curvatures. Doing one side is easy. Getting the other half identical is a nightmare

It’s compound curves on 2 planes .

Imagine giving someone a 1 foot cube of polystyrene and a sanding block and say make a perfect sphere. With no flat spots ......

Grrrrr

And ive used £120 of body filler so far and another 30 quid tomorrow.

It makes great adhesive tho lol

I know you will do your homework on this one,  but I used this type of set up a year ago and abandoned it, because of a minor little detail, like I couldn't stop the car !.

Allegedly the set up was for an RX-8, however the pedal was absolutely rock hard which indicated to me that the master cylinders were too big.

Problem with the race car is I couldn't  just run it up n down the road to develop the system so out it went.

Like I said,  I know you will do your homework :great:

(In the old days, most used Hillman Imp Cylinders for these conversions)

Welp,

This is a universal set up for anything really, due to space constraints I need the M/C's coming back into the cockpit to which there will be a heel plate over the top.

Interestingly, the M/C's that come with it as standard are 0.625" for the front and 0.75" for the rear. Funnily exactly the same I had for my red top powered Mk1 escort donkeys years ago on a homemade bias pedal box.

From what I remember the brakes were phenomenal on my escort with no servo. I was running Austin Princess 4 pots on front and sierra calipers on the rear.

I know a lot can do with bore sizes (area) of each caliper piston in comparison to how much fluid each M/C can move.

As a ratio between front and rear, I know the bore sizes of the M/C's are right but I havnt gone to deep in calculating the total area of pistons in comparison at this stage. But theres a simple formula I have from my days at college doing fluid dynamics to work that out.

As you rightly said, you dont have the luxury of road test shakedown, and need to drive in anger from the start.

I have the luxury or buying different bore sizes of M/Cs if need be. My gut feeling from experience, is it "should" be fine, or certainly as a starter for 10.

Ill let you know either way.

My biggest concern is floor mounted brake with top hung RX8 loud pedal.......... Ive never had the need to practice heel and toe braking and changing down on the road.

And at my driving abilty on the track ( or lack of) , Ill probably still not need it for several months/years.

I just hope the funny arrangement doesnt hinder the option.
