Jon, a bit off topic but you should lose that panhard and use Wat link.

Yeah ! Does this look like a panhard rod Westfield agony aunt problem corner...... Start ya own thread!

Ha ha ha ha I'm kidding right.

That's a far point jarno,...... I've never made a watts linkage as I've had enough clearance to cope with panhard rod........ But they don't look difficult.

A few mods before race season Jon? Need to get some more traction on that front end without chucking bags of cement in the passenger footwell.

There ya go Jon.

That looks simple........ Ugly as sin and that youre about to plough snow. But look at the Audi Quattro Pike Peak car from the 80s. It was gorgeous yet ugly at the same time, yeah ..........it makes sense in my head.

That thing is a piece of 3/4" ply for ya base, cut it to your shape, route a full 10mm rad on the front lip, by the time you layered up some filler on it, the ply will be 20mm. Then glue on slabs of polystyrene insulation from B&Q.

Shape it to the desired profile, skim of filler, (dont forget to PVA it or the filler will melt the foam) and boom you have a pattern. Soon make a mould and get a product from that.

You can unbolt it and use it as a standard westy while you tinker with Dive Planes for some fine tuning.

Maybe when I start moulding my front bumper youll get some more inspiration? Whats your strap line? Worry less, dream more!

Gaining an extra 40Kgs of downforce on the front end at high speed surely has to be a cheaper option that forking out for more traction on wider wheels and sticky rubber. Seems like you have nothing to lose.

Anyway, I set the alarm to come n play for the day, have a super day

If your traction is too great on the front end as a result and the tail gets loose, you can fine tune the front end, a cordless drill and a 2” tank cutter till you get the balance right lol.

Can unbolt it and make a less aggressive one if you wanna make it pretty lol

Once the rx7 is back together i fancy giving this ago...only 1 sec to find and nailed the design brief!  Ill make it (gotta learn new thing)  will just need your fibreglass/ mould guidance. I did watch some you tube vids a while on mould making etc ..forgot it all now.
I was gonna weld some extra box section onto front of car. Box section into box section so can slip the front "plough" on and drop x2 pins into secure.

Sorted! now ya talking.

Have a look at this page, its where I get some of my inspiration from

https://www.facebook.com/pg/Chrisisaacsracecars/photos/?tab=album&album_id=922312744451981

This is a good link also to get the basics. You need the underside slightly pointing down, only by 1 or 2 degrees. But reducing the amount of air flowing under reduces pressure and it will create an amount of suck down.

https://www.buildyourownracecar.com/race-car-aerodynamics-basics-and-design/

It will probably make little difference on a westy compared to a closed wheel saloon with a larger underfloor area, but adopt the principles as "good practise"as its better than having it pointing in the oppose direction and promoting lift .

No problem on the grp.............. if you need me to pop down on a Sat morning or whatever to get you started thats no aggro, just let me know either way. Happy to help.

Back to it, my shed looks like a bad day in Bosnia! Apologies to any Bosnians on this Forum.

Well, its not about clearence, its about movement. Panhard makes diff move too much, Wat doesent...

Unfortunately, my english isnt too good so I cant explain these technical things...

Don’t panic your English is better than my Finnish, I know exactly what you mean.

The centre of the diff moves laterally as well as it moves vertically due to the arc travel of the Panhard rod, where the watts linkage just allows vertical travel.

That work for you ?

Exactly! That causes whole diff live under braking and acceleration. And that means that rear rubbers contact to surfase is not optimal. When I saw Jons car, I saw that it was "Old school" stuff. There is room for improvement. However, at that point, it did work. But Jon and car has gone above that point. It just doesent work anymore... Sorry gents, just my few thoughts, Im drunk ;) :D

Update......

Did this yesterday, never done this before....ever............. I just "wing" it  :-\ :-\

From from my Victorian wheel alignment tool, and yes, that IS a bracket for a hanging basket!!!

Got lots of shaping to go yet, and Im only one the first one. No seriously, Im doing to be doing this for EVER!.

The front wing will be interesting, as Im changing the position of the ridge at the top of the wing and lifting it up, hence the laser level... that worked out nicely.
