Hey Jarno,

heres the stock Lotus chassis.......

Easier to start from scratch with a new backbone chassis than trying to graft RX8 stuff on the Lotus chassis.

Handy for taking dimensions from it though  :great:

Thanks Jarno!

When the steering wheel is on the right side, its on the RIGHT side lol ! .

Thats what Jon keeps telling me but Im pretty sure that he is wrong

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

I couldnt agree more. Theres no reason to use that old tired chassis when you can do/use new and better one

And with RX-8s chassis and suspension setup, that thing is going to be fast

Jesus,

Either my eyesight has improved dramatically or those pics are far too big!

Sorted that for you Jamie  :13:

The forum doesn't resize pics, so anything wider than 1024 pixels is usually a problem.

I'm been following this thread for some time with great interest. A really fascinating project, and I'm in total awe at your range of fabrication skills :icon_thumleft:

Thanks for the resize Casey and the nod of approval.

Jeeez I didnt realise it drums so much interest.

Im sure I'll cock something up at some point, and Ill have to lean on some fine people on here to get me out a pickle.

I also wish I had the balls to do this sort of thing for a living, but everyone says theres no money unless your name is Richard Rawlings, Boyd Coddington, or Dave Kindig.

So Ill settle for going semi retired and have this as a working hobby.............I probably wouldnt enjoy it so much.

Im also relying on Jon to help me get the track bug, Ive never done a track day, and Ill be first to admit I enjoy building more than driving, esp on the roads anyway.

Y'all cool !!  :13: :13:

Btw, Jon is actually quite good driver. Made me feel woozy at Silverstone.   (Jon, dont say anything! ) I absolutely hate beeing passenger, and my inner ear problem makes feel like crap sometimes. But anyways, I was able to joy few laps with onboard his FD. Nice

I really like swaps. Especially weird ones. Its not easy way to swap modern cars stuff to old, because with new technology, there comes new cars problems...

I my self might have cocked up with my project. Quest for power is not easy when one is only good at braking stuff, but knows nothing about turbos and ecus

Isnt that all part of the learning process?

If it was easy, it wouldn't be rewarding when you've achieved something.

Like this morning, I come into work at stupid oclock to start bending the aluminium sheet for my tank.

Things are a couple of degrees out because of variance of aluminium specs...... sometimes you can have the best plans in the world, but then you have to beat it into submission LOL

Well, thats true.  But I dont be learning by blowing up motors under full boost luckily there is few good ecu tuners near me...

Fuel Tank update!

Tacked the basic shape today and brought it home for trial fit

By Christ! it only fits! more luck than judgment, and room for the harnesses to strap on the rear of the cage.

Lots of welding this weekend.

Anyone recommend the best way to mount it???

Strap it down with metal bands, or weld L brackets to the outside and bolt it solidly to the cage??

Oh and any recommendations for a small battery that will power all the electrics including lights with decent cranking Amps.

Im going to house it under the tank on passenger side

Thanks in advance for any input  :13:

Cool build!

Did you find the info you needed on the fuel sender?

Thanks Paul,

If I'm honest I forgot to look,

The little bracket at the bottom of the rank is to house the 2 stock senders.

I've cut 2 squares out the bottom of the stock plastic tank and bolt them to the Ali bracket, the stock senders will click into place.

The full level position on the stock tank is higher than my tank so I've canted them over a little bit,

I'll do a bit of wiring wizardry, well good for me so both sets of wires join the same block connector  ;)

The more things I can keep stock the more chance I got to make it work hahaha

Have a look on page 106/316 on my thread. Basically joined the fuel sender and sub sender wires together at the clocks.
