Been putting stickers on the Leggy today.

A bit of "Faux" carbon fibre..........

A crap attempt to make a scuff plate.

I think I forgot to tell you....... cutting a long story short, I reversed into a lamp post about 2 weeks ago. spent more lime looking in the side mirros to avoid the parked cars and bang! lol

The top surface of the bumper squashed up and cracked the paint....pearl too :(

The main reason for the sticker is to prevent the paint lifting when I send it through the car wash.

Cheaper than a new bumper or a respray

Can anyone help??

I intend on fitting the higher (rpm / Kw ) starter motor.

Can anyone advise what the optimum cranking amps are required from the battery.

I need the most capable battery in the smallest size, lightest available.

Thanks in advance.

I can't help with the spec on the starter motor, but a popular choice for RX-8 owners (including me) is the Varta E23 battery:

CCA for this battery is 630A

Not a bad size for a Lead Acid battery, but obviously not light  ;)

If you are into serious money and weight saving, then Clive can undoubtedly advise on a suitable super lightweight racing battery, similar to the on he uses in his race car. which you can pick up with a little finger, as they are so light  :)

Many thanks casey,

Its good to get an idea on a good typical spec in terms of CCA.

Im now going down a path of the Lithium Ion ones.

Ive seen that Clive runs a Ballistic EVO3......... been on their website and they say they are no longer trading as they cannot compete with chinese manufactured competitors.

A few on eBay America, but postage is daft from the US.

A shop very close to me sells the below, and the supplier is in the same town as the shop.

Yup expensive, but lighness is key with the car. Im not going to have the most powerful engine in the world, so taking on board Colin Chapmans philosophy of added lightness.

We sold these USA made batterys for around 6 years, shame they got pushed out of the market.

This would be the equivalent to what I have on the Race car

While I think about it, was it your good self who said koyo rads can be mounted 15 degrees from horizontal?

Been busy boy!

Glassing the holes back up on the passenger floor to give clearance for the exhaust.

Wooden wheels have been back on to make the inner wheel arch liners.

Made them extra large so I can trim them back to suit the profile of the cars front bumper/nose cone.

Inner arches will have the oil coolers mounted to them with vents into the wheel wells.

Tacked together a new sub frame to mount the new Koyo so it misses all the proposed bodywork.

More glassing ahead to make ducting feeding air in and away from the rad.

At least I smell of welding today and not resin.

Well I’ve changed my mind this morning again on the body work for the front end. Lol

The top half of the nose cone will be fixed permanently to the body with an original bumper but stretched wider using 2.

And the lower half with all the ducting and splitter comes away with a join line hidden behind the bumper.

Think of it like a removable jaw lol
