Oookey...

So, my friend Ville messaged a week ago in friday, that he want to race at Vilppula, rallycross national series finale event. So, he loaned my Blueberry for that event. He came to get car at sunday. Thru monday and tuesday they rebuilded engine. Piston rings where in little pieces

Hes own car, exatly similar to mines, is on rent to one young drive Jussi, that is in currently on 2nd place at champion standings.

Last friday we went to Vilppula and in freepractise car showed really good pace.
Saturday was race day, and I told Ville that, I want to see what my car can do, so full send it

First heat, he made "tactical driving error", so that young guy could get maximum points from that heat.

Second heat, another Ford broke steering, so he drifter out, pushing Ville out too. In that outing, oil pan took a hit, and started to leak abit. However, when he got back in the track, Blueberry was absolutely flying, even tho conditions where wet. Ville said that suspension setup is really good, no understeer atall.

Third heat, well, just bad luck. That Beemer that hit my car, it has 5 links and control arms on its back wheel, and they all broke. So hard that hit was If Ville wouldnt tryed to avoid that collision, and didnt go around left side, that collision would have been even badder, cause they where so many cars involved. But, this time, bad luck just hit, and that Beemer just spinned around and hitted

However, Im not mad or pissed off. This Vilppula track is one that I have wanted to race, cause I knew my car would be fast there. I knew that Ville would get everything out off my car, and show its true pace. This was my cars first outing at rallycross event, and even tho it did ended badly, Im not upset. Now I know what my car can do.

Plus, I have allready got 3 offers to buy that car

Wow! That's two more points towards sainthood!  :notworthy:
I thought my old man took it pretty well when I crashed his car. But to be fair, I didn't take it racing...
I'd pay that BMW-driver a visit, tho...  >:D

Yeah, I hate Fords. But before I got that car, I did about 3 months research. Weight, corner weights, power, diff rations, and so on. Unfortunately, this was best option

Actually, that Beemer driver is friend of mine. There where absolutely nothing he could do to avoid that. At first cornet, someone hitted abit to that red Peugeot. His rear brake loose, and hitted that Beemers rear. And it caused it to spin. In middle of that, was black Alfa hitting every one.

Ville saw all that from behind, and desided to try go around all off them from left side. Unfortunately, that Beemer driften towards him, and he couldnt see that...

Well, thats racing. This time, unfortunately, Beemer and my car took those biggest hits

Ouch! That's a lot of damage. I saw your post on Fbook and assumed it was Blueberry. Sad, but good to know the car was competitive though.

Coilover is on workshop allready. Its coming back together again.

Good thing is that all those parts are basically same that Fokus has, so they are easy and sheap to get

Oh, forgot to give you some updates

Well, basically, I have done nothing to Vert

But Blueberry, after I got it home, I have done suspension setup mods. I lowered nose about 1 cm more. Lowering car give it abit more negative camber too. And we went testing at Hyvinkää rallycross track.

Clearly it wasnt a good idea. Even tho car turns like grazy, it is just too low for rallycross. In jump car floored like grazy and coilover bottomed.

Also I was logging maps with laptop and felt and saw that there is flat spot at 4000rpm. At home went thru logs with friend and came to conglusion that crancsaft sensor or wiring might be gone

Anyhoo, I managed to do 1,08 lap time which is, basically, crap Lap record for this class cars is 1,03. But keep in mind, that sensor problem, I had to take jump really carefully and I could trust my tyres for some reason... Raising car back up, and some more, should do the trick. But I fear it might compromize cars amazing turning...

However, one of my coals was to get one young gent from our village option to try my car. He is 14, and has shown amazing potential in our ice lake racing for several years allready. Well, we knew he is fast but... I told him to take it easy at jump, and be carefull cause rear brakes loose easily. Dude has never driven FWD car, or any similar to mine. He has practiced with 316 Compact Beemer. At third lap, at braking to guite narrow right hand turn in tarmac, rear brake loose and he spinned. But with few laps more, he was allready starting to master my car, and times where good.

This track day was my friends club members day at the track. And there was several similar class cars there. In afternoon was "joyfull" sprint race. I didnt attend cause I promized to be a flagman. But after some discussion, we desided that young gent Niklas will attend. Even tho his father Marko was stressed out if something happens to my car. I said that we think about that later I told Niklas to be carefull at the jump, but other than that, give it full beans. And he did! He was fastest, by big marginal, lapping 1,04 lap time! Which is awesome, having mind that he had unfamiliar car with just few laps experience, bad tyres, and cold weather. And, oh boy, his father was nervous

Now, after that weekend, about few months ago, I have done some minor jobs to Blueberry. Nose is raised now. Also Im getting car ready for winter season. Looking forward for ice racing

As for Vert, plan is to get back to it as soon as possible

Sounds like a fun day on track, and that lad, Niklas, looks like someone to keep an eye on for the future, amazing!

Looking forward to more updates on the vert!

Yes, that day was very good.

Few of us are trying to figure out car and funding for that lad for next year. Lad wants to go rallying, but we have tryed to get his focus to rallycross. We are sure that lad is very compatible almost in any glass

Great story, thanks for sharing!  :great:
Are you not worried you might be preventing the young talent from winning a future WRC title by distracting him with Rallycross?  ;)

Actually, at this point, young drivers have more options and possibilitys via Rallycross than WRC. Our recent history has shown that. We have several young guys gone to world, to race in several series. WRC possibilitys are very limited.

Ofcourse, when these guys can show their speed, then there is much more possibilitys to enter different glasses. For example, one of our rallycross guys, from Crosscart series, just wone some Italian Ferrari track series championship

And one thing is, that if one wants to be compatible in our rally series, in any of them, its much more expencive than basically any of our similar rallycross glasses

I quess its time for some updates...

Thinking of selling Blueberry, got some good offers for it. But might be racing few races, finally..

Anyhoo, im abit drunk, so desided to go to garage and start Vert. Well, she did start, after awhile. But she wasnt happy. Running sooooo rich, and I think that all spark plugs arent firing. And the smoke, my house is filled with it now!

Got to get motivation to do her, so I can enjoy it this year

Clive, send Pip to here!
