As above.

I\'ve got a budget of £8k for an RX7.  There are plenty about for sale across the UK, obviously some bangers, and obviously some minters but all for various amounts.

Can I be fairly sure if I get one thats had plenty of TLC, maybe a rebuild or lowish miles (under say 40k miles) for around £8k that i\'ll be OK?  Or, in the experience of the people here would £8k just be trouble?

I\'m currently driving a S14 200SX and have modded it nicely and just wanna now go for my dream car now :cool so i\'m fairly used to the power and RWD.

Your thoughts?

Matt, yes there are some good FD\'s out there for circa £8k. Just try and get as much information out of the owner as possible and go from there.

There is a wealth of good information for little things to check on the forums.

Good hunting.

Is there any basic things to look for in a rex?  I\'m starting to search thro the website but often unless you know what to look for, you won\'t see it :D

Matt, I am moving this into the correct forum, and this link will take you to a list of things to check.

A simple answer yes, but depends on what sort of rx you want in ways of modification??

I very reasonable rx will still fetch £10000+ with certain mods, the pic below is of a rx i spotted for somebody, its had a rebuild and looks clean and tidy was £8200, not bad at all???

Yeah youd get a decent one for about 8k, its around what id sell mine at if I ever make my mind up.

Only trouble with autotrader is many of the cars on there are not actually available.  Id advise looking over a few first and driving them if you can, as some I have driven have been complete dogs!

Very true Lee,

my first rx was ok but not brill as i rushed into it without doing my homework, luckily bought and sold without spending any more money;)

I\'m looking for a relatively unmodded one, maybe uprated intercooler, some kind of boost control and other mods that are based around reliability (beyond the boost control) over power as the standard 0-60 is more than enough for me AND I won\'t be do track days :)

Mine was £7500, L reg, UK spec and rebuilt four months before I bought it, totally standard engine and bodywork (atm ;) ) and it\'s in nice condition if I say so myself.

I looked at loads all over the place, Autotrader, local car import guy/non local import guys and online before I finally found the right one.

Don\'t be tempted to just buy the prettiest or fastest one you find, the whole process took about 4 months from "Right, I\'m getting one" to "Yay, I\'m driving one!" and I\'ve been nothing but impressed with the car, even standard it\'s still a high performance motor and look awesome.

I would say that  8k will turn you up a tidy standard or lightly modded one around the same year as mine.

Good luck matey  :)

Yes please be patient it took me 8 months to find the "right" rx for me which was a high powered but kitted rx!!!

Take your time let your head do the thinking, any further queries ask away on here lots of knowledeable peeps on here!!:o

Hi Matt  :wave

Not very often a Newport boy would give advice to a Cardiff boy but....... :p

It took me 6 years and two STi Scoobies to find the right RX !!! :D:D

As with all cars the basics are the right thing to do, history, receipts etc. But if you are like me and your technical level is Lego, when you find one you think is sound for you, get it checked out by someone who knows what they are looking at !!!. You will save any money you lay out in peace of mind and bills later.

I bought mine for £8,000, fresh import 94 L, with good mechanical mods ( HKS everything on the breathe in and out front basically ) with 58K klms on the clock. Few chips here and there on the bodywork but nothing off putting.  Had it 8 months and no drama\'s just smiles all they way.

See you in the park for a lark and a pint of Dark :p:p

:cheers
