MX5 racing would be interesting, thats true...

But no, I have dips on that FD ;)

One of the things you would face building an MX-5 racer is that if you come in cold you will be pushed to be competitive because of learning the "tricks" to make it quick ,

How about this one, a 192 in the Nippon gt200 class as I have said for a long time this would be a very competitive animal out there ,

Have fun out there on my favourite island     8)
All the best Clive

Isnt Miata quite easy to drive? Even though it lacks power... But yes, I think Jon has to learn completely new driving style to compete with those. FD and Westbury are so much different beasts :)

But I like that 192 idea. Jon allready knows 8´s. But car has to be much lighter and dunno if that possible in that class rules...?

Bobfish

what kind of tricks clive?

Bobfish

Also the Miata is easy ish to drive, but its a very competitive series so you have to be spot on with your racecraft. It teaches you to capitalise on a 1mph advantage to get you out of trouble or to make that pass where in other series you may just be able to nail it because you have more power/are lighter/have shorter gearing.

I've never driven any other series so cant speak definitively but it is really close racing.

Well i dunno...more inclined to have ago at making the westy irs just really not sure how togo about it. So many factors to take care off.
I really dont want to sell either cars lol. I think im gonna stick with Westy and Special gt and get the angle grinder out and see what room weve got for a yet undetermined subframe.

Yes, thats true. I have seen local Miata guys doing very compatible times in my home track. And when they race each other, very epic battles...

But if I were Jon, I wouldnt sell those cars. Too much time and effort put to them. I really like them both :)

I think some of it has todo with a frustration that i have not been able to accomplish what i set out todo...the westy has been a lot of hardwork and the fd a welcome distraction from it.
Lol plus ive become a bit of a grumpy old man lately largely in part to the fact im struggling after these ops and will be getting a 2nd opinion asap. Lol a pain in the arse is a real pain in the arse....
But ive made my mind up...fd staying...westy getting irs...will be done when its done.

Good decision. Long build time there will be times when it just doesnt interest.
Take a break and youl get new boost.
To see other cars and builds will usually help to give the kick again to do forward your own project.
Im sure youl get the joy and excitement back and push the westies irs on in no time. It will be awesome car to drive.
