hi homies,
i would like some opinions and thoughts on this..
today i started my car as i do every now and then, i haven't taken the car out for a proper drive for quite a while as i'm still getting it sorted and ready to go back on the road.
last week car was fine, today it seemed to struggle on idle, settled around 800 when i think it used to always be over 1000rpm,
also when i did rev the car it made a screeching noise but only when it went from 800 to 1,200 or so and then it didn't make any noise above that.
i thought maybe a loose belt and the only belt that i think needs tightening a little is the alternator belt, but what worries me is i thought the noise came from the engine.

today i also noticed some white like creamy residue inside the oil cap and filler neck, usually this means head gasket problems for a normal car engine but for a rotary is it a lot more serious?! coolant seals or apex seals?! im not very clued up about this topic area, but i am worried about it,
also i noticed white smoke out of the exhaust, this usually goes away quite quickly whenever ive started up my car in the past but this time it didn't go away at all.
hopefully it's just because the car hasn't been run out properly for a while.

let me know what you think.

thanks.

Sounds like its just belt slip, as for the creamy stuff providing your not using water an oil change should clear this out.
All the best Clive

ok thanks clive, i'll tighten alternator belt and do an oil change then see how it is.

i would get a double alternator pulley.
my belt was squeeling, then the day i tightened it was the day it snapped.

ok so yesterday i completed oil change along with new oil filter and alternator belt tightened, i noticed in the oil some little bits of what i thought was perished rubber and thought it must be from the seals, it was only a couple of small bits.
i started the car and everything is good, good idle, the exhaust smoke went away and no screeching noise!
i let the car run for a little bit then checked for any oil leaks and everything was fine so turned off the car.
today i started the car and the rpm on idle had dropped slightly and the alternator belt had already lost a little bit of its tension compared to yesterday, and at one point the car was struggling to keep itself going and almost cut out.
is this because of the alternator belt again? or maybe not getting in enough air through the filter?
let me know your thoughts.
thanks.

mmm strange.

If youve still got the old oil id be inclined to find the bits and roll em threw your finger and thumb. if just oil sludge will brake down and thin out if not will stay solid.

Stick a new belt on less than a tenner. old prob gone hard and lost elasticity. onve belt off you can spin your alternator and WP puleys and check your bearings for roughness.

idle soz dont know.

i did roll between finger n thumb and it did break down but into little bits.
whats the best place to get a new belt? or the part number and ill find one? i will certainly check for roughness when spinning the pulleys, thanks for the advice :]
