kv85s on jdm type S?

Well ive just put all the as new type B coils, KV85 magnecor leads and  iridium sparks on the Type s from the race engine as this will get brand new next year and car is flyin but we got a check light for coil malfunction on all 4 and pending codes.

Light popped on whilst test driving. No issues pulling well.

Gotta be the leads? most perplexed:Hammer

Leads.plugs n sparks change....battery off air box off for clean .

Maf clean. Thats about it...all done with battery off.

code read n clear.

2 brake stomps, room fuse pull still got a light.

code read P0351,2,3 & 4.

clear and light goes off. rescan back in pending!

just dont like these leads!

Yup!

Original mazda leads back on no engine light!

no pending codes.....

so jdm ecu dont like magnecor KV85\'s then. impedance/resistance outta spec

have to get some new originals as the originals look very old.

well at least i know my coils and sparks have only a few thou on them and it rude health! nothing wrong with old coils but some white marks showing and A coils so on the shelf as spares just in case!

Nah...back on after a drive!  Coils swap now.

Yep... 4 times now....battery disconnect. Room fuse pull ....its driving sweet.

Just got back from haircut gonna put back original coils. And see if codes clear...

These b coils been on the race car for a year......fakes possibly?

after some extensive googling.....does look like non original coils.....as other peeps have had these codes on jdm models.....gonna contact gavin the original owner where the coils came from as see if there gen items.

codes triggered by pcm not happy with trigger current me thinks!

all fun and learning.

there is no difference in performance between new and old!

on a side note the apprentice from work is working on his hyundai coupe for mot repairs and i put a dead brown rat in his centre console.....he literally s%^t himself when he found it.....laughed til i hurt!

Found the fake coils thread on rx8 club and mine look like fake 1\'s.

still work fine but not nice for confident inspiring!...defo wont be going back on the race engine!

doh now i need 2 new sets! ker ching!

just to close the loop on this issue.....

Gavin the previous owner got these coils from Amazon and got a good deal and he thought they are genuine as came in Mazda boxes etc....but looking at the piccys on RX8club they look like fakes to me. They work fine no codes on uk model and s type JDM but throw codes on JDM...strange but true.
