Just a bit of fun! This happened 22 years ago !

Just passed my test 1 week just b4 my 18th birthday. My gran sold me her little yellow x plate mini city cheap.....it failed mot on Handbrake and i had to take to the garage on Monday so i parked up for the weekend. I went to my bedroom and 5 mins later heard a big bang!

On looking out my bedroom window saw my mini at the bottom of a hill in the side of a Audi Quattro!
It had rolled 100m down a hill straight into the side of this audi ! When i rushed to tell my parents the visitor they where having coffee with turned white! It was his....Mini survived albeit with black wing for 1 year...Audi Quattro had a crease across the roof and was written off. First crash not even in the car! :rollin

My first crash was in my company Astra when I was 20. I was young and foolish and my mate had told me he could take a certain roundabout at 80 mph. I tried and either my lack of talent or the laws of physics propelled me in to the crash barrier.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

oh good thread!

lets see my first crash was in my first year of driving so around 1999 . at this point in time you could still drive a £30 :censored::censored::censored::censored:ter into the scrap yard and drive out with a £50 :censored::censored::censored::censored:ter for another years ticket,

i owned a mk 1 escort that i was rebuilding a mk 1 fiesta with no floor and the best car i have ever owned a mk4 escort, ok the battery location was a water trap and had rotted through making the battery fall through to the passenger footwell but a bit of cereal box and glass fibre with stone chip and we was away again,.

anyway, this car had been punted into hedges and kerbs many times at speed, but this being a regular occurrence and the scrap yard fella holding a mk4 escort back just for me , this didn\'t bother me,

the one day it was raining and i was coming round the redditch ring road which is a long sweeping banked bit of 3 lane, its a 40 limit but in the dry you could get away with 60, it was raining this day and i was chasing a renault 5 full of blonde girls,

coming up to the final corner i made my rally like subtle steering adjustment (in my head!!!  what i actually did was yanked on the wheel like i was pulling saville off my brother) so i was turning and the car was going straight,  no worries i thought i have raced mini stock and auto grass i can handle this, unfortunately roads aren\'t like mini stock and auto grass there is no run off or room for playing,

i hit the kerb dead straight at such a speed that i half expected to see my subframe in my rear view mirror, instead the :censored::censored::censored::censored:ed suspension and wheel just took it in its stride and launched me about 2-4ft in the air, straight into a lovely manicured council hedge and straight out the other side into a not so lovely wall,

now being a lad once i had ensured no brown was showing through my trousers i got out and laughed it off, reversed the car out of the hedge and drove the car home with one wheel dragging at a 90\' angle compared to the other one,

this happen ed probably on a monthly basis for a good 2 years, and when the car had had enough you would go and buy another one,  god knows how we are all still alive from that era but hey i made it, and that was one of the only stories i could tell on a public forum!

just use your imagination on the rest

why a mini doesn\'t fit on a bmx track
why a car on fire isn\'t a good idea during a firefighter strike
why i know how much the council charge per lamppost
and why claiming you really need a :censored::censored::censored::censored: will not help in a court of law

Flippin hell! Mini on a bmx track sounds like alot of fun! We went camping in the quantocks when i had my mini....we stumbled on a rally stage and the mini was awesome til the rangers threw us out.

the mini on a vmx track merged into two actually, mini on a vmx track into why it isn\'t a good idea to have a car fire during a firefighter strike,

I know some of you know this one already

My first crash was the first time I drove a car

I spotted an old 1950\'s ford pop in the road that had been there for a long time, so banged on the door and was told it was free if I took it away.

Bearing in mind I was only 10 and my father did not drive, my only idea of how to steer was what I had seen in the movies :Giggle

Now if you recall old back projection shows the driver waggling the steering wheel from side to side :Viking now remember I was only ten with no role model of how to drive.

So now I have learnt to move the thing through its three gears and we are off into the woods and onto a straight with me waggling the steering wheel side to side and guess what , it got away from me swerving now madly till ------------------it fell over on its side:eek:

A few years later at the tender ago of 15 in the same woods I was trying to master reverse spins in an Anglia where you swop ends to turn 180degrees and drive off, nearly got it perfected and then, guess what -----------it fell over proper , rolling once and landing back on its wheels---------------at least I didn\'t have to walk home.

I have often joked with people "I learned by crashing" , they have no idea how true that is.

At the age of 16 I started racing, then I really learnt how to crash properly :Giggle:Giggle
All the best Clive

i should have known better being brought up with auto grass and mini stock but sometimes that can make things worse in a road car on the public roads, has any other racers noticed this,

i am also a hideous passenger, ever critical and clinging on for dear life

LMAO you guys. Great stories. :)

My first crash: I was 8 years old and my father was teaching my to drive in a frosen lake. Car was 1 year old Beemer 1.8 IS. I was surtain that if something happens to it, I was dead. I still remember that day like a yesterday. Well, few laps were good but then Beemers  light back did a trick to me. I spinned to snow barrier. Before car stoppen, I was out of the car, "praying". ;)

First time in the road: I was 18 and had my first car. Volvo 340 and was winter. Me and my friend were having "practise" at little dirt road which was very slippery and icy. I went far too fast to corner and went straight out. Volvo was really far in the woods! When we got it back on the road, it didnt have any marks on it. Even license plate werent dent :D
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.
