The RX8OC is holding a "closed" (non-public) full day trackday at the Blyton Park circuit, Lincolnshire on Saturday, 22 March, price £150. Although this is “linked” to the RX8OC AGM on the Sunday, the trackday element is open to all Full Members of the RX8OC  and Full Members of the MRC. It would be great to see some older rotary models come along to join in the track fun. I\'ve already had serious interest from an FD owner on here.

This is an equally brilliant event for anyone who is experienced on track or has never been on a track before.

The Blyton Park circuit is not a race track. It was specifically designed and laid out as a test and trackday venue. This means it doesn’t have lots of intimidating “Armco” and tyre walls around the circuit. It has an excellent smooth tarmac surface and, should you try a little too hard there is concrete run-offs on most of the circuit. At other areas you worst you are likely to do is to run off into a field of cabbages :o. On an event such as this, there will be plenty of experienced trackday drivers willing to go out with you to offer advice, if requested.

Opportunities such as these “closed” trackdays are rare. If you have never driven one, you are missing out on a really fantastic experience. If you enjoy driving your car, you really must not miss this  :D

The RX8OC Events Coordinator (Graham) will be in charge of the arrangements of the day but, based on last year, the event is likely to run something like this;

Arrive at the circuit no later than 8am to sign on
8.30am compulsory safety briefing
9.00am sighting laps behind a course car
Track open for novices only initially, then open to all, as directed in the briefing session.
Track time is likely to end at 5pm

You will need to wear a helmet, and have clothing that covers your arms and legs. Helmets will be available for hire for the day for a fee of £10.

With acknowledgement to other RX8OC members, here’s a couple of videos of what it’s like to drive at Blyton

Don’t worry about massive tyre wear during the day. As long as you’ve got 3mm+ of tread at the start of the day and your tyre pressures are correct, you are good to go.

It’s easy to book your place, all you need to do is pay for a place via the RX8OC shop VIA THIS LINK

Blyton Park is situated 1 mile from Blyton village on the B1205. Here\'s a LINK to the Blyton Park website where you can get more details.

Well, I\'m looking forward to it anyway  :D

Finally, if there are any questions, please post up in this thread or PM me.

Bump for this "closed event" trackday - a great opportunity for MRC Members to get their car out on track with fellow rotary enthusiasts in the RX8OC.

A great "Club" atmosphere is to be had at this event, which the RX8OC is organising, in conjunction with Mazdaontrack, for the third year running. This event may well not be repeated next year, so don\'t miss out on this unique trackday!
