Everyone should have received an email from MSVT confirming their place, plus the disclaimer form and garage number allocations - the latter should make it easier for us to get organised at the start of the day. Please note your garage number and, if open when you arrive, go and park up inside; 2 in garage one in front or behind (keeping yellow fire lane clear!). If the garages are locked when you arrive, park up in large paddock area as close to garage as possible.

PLEASE check with your garage "sharers" and if someone needs to change wheels, etc, give then priority in the garage itself.

Just to say thanks to Casey for organising an awesome day, and to Kerim and Clive  for saving my day(!)

Snetterton is a really fun track, the combinations of corners one into another make it a good challenge.

Car ran well all day and air / water temps fine, so the FMIC setup is working well.  Only problem was a nasty vibration under braking that developed in mid afternoon, I need some better pads I think.

Very few traffic problems on track, lots of good running. I had an instruction session and that really helped me, I was much more effective after that.

Days like today make it all worthwhile!

Oh yeah, a highlight was being faster than a 996 GT3 around the lap, including catching him (very slowly) on the straights.  That felt good!

re japi

What??? You were faster than 996 GT3? What car do you drive? ;)
Anyways, that GT3 is awesome car on track so you should be proud. Good job mate :)
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

To be fair, I think the driver was being a bit cautious, and a slow driver can be slow in anything.  However, he did seem to be full throttle on the straights, so to be catching him up there was more of a surprise.

My car is an FD, sequential twins, fmic, intake, exhaust, mapped by JayDee. AD08 tyres. I guess the cold air probably gives turbo cars a slight advantage.

The handling is the main thing though, so responsive and controllable on the limit.

Casey

^^ I think the GT3 car must have been doing some driver training during as even I was able to overtake him several times during the day. The car was very slow in the corners, so the car clearly wasn\'t being driven anywhere near to it\'s potential. I\'ll try and get some video footage edited to show what I mean :Laugh

Wasn\'t the weather brilliant :) Bright sunshine in the morning, so the track was bone dry by about 11.30, giving those with track rubber some fantastic levels of grip to play with. The only downside was the wind at times, but the garages provided excellent shelter. But hey, this is February, it doesn\'t get much better than this, especially on an exposed flat area of the fens  :D

Big thanks from me to everyone who attended the day, seeing so many smiling faces made all the effort of organising worthwhile. Alongside all the "regulars", it was good to see Lem and Zongoose for their first trackday in RX-8\'s (although Zongoose is no stranger to trackdays  :D ). Great to see a smiling Paras back for his 2nd outing with us (and I hope your son is feeling better today). You guys were driving extremely well out there :Thumbs-up

Also fantastic to see CrissyUK back on track after a 3 year break. Great circuit lines and natural style, just need to go quicker   What a present to get from Arnie_O for Valentine\'s day! Aston, car looking and sounding great.

At last we had another FD to share the track with C J R - thanks for going us samoht (read that backwards if you didn\'t get it  :D ). C J R, your car is more awesome than ever, some great work under the bonnet!

Clive, sorry you had another frustrating start to the day in your epic task of getting that "hybrid FD/FE" machine running. The massive potential of that car is clear to all, so I\'m pleased the day did finally yield some progress in the right direction (well the wrong direction if you include the grass cutting excursion ;) ). If you do organise another test day at Brands soon, let me know and I\'ll try and get down, if only to hold an oily rag ......

Great to see stewartm and KJB travel down too, and sorry the "Snetterton Curse" on your cars came back to haunt your latest one. I hope Ben can sort out the issue quickly. I hope you both got back safely and hope you might have some good pics to share later. Thanks for being brave enough to passenger with me Katie when Ray and I were having some fun chasing one another  :D

So pleased to see one of the original stalwarts, Zarterone, and his daughter Chantelle are stiil enjoying days out with us. Thanks for the passenger ride Paul, a hoot as ever! Thanks Chantelle for brightening up the pits with your smile!

Duffby name, I\'ll be timing you the next time you change your rear pads    Great job you did there in the garage and great to see you with us again Iain.

Harrisons5 - sorry we didn\'t get out on track together Robert, we really must share some rides next time. Your car was looking and sounding awesome!

GSB and Grimreaper; car was looing good Nigel, thanks again guys for the fantastic support you give to these events and the club in general  :god

Gonefishing, the big smile on your face all day said it all, glad you could join us for the day to have some fun.

Bob, good to see you again, somehow or another I didn\'t see you much during the day, but I know you had a good time.

Clarky, glad to help out at the start of your day and I\'m sorry it was cut short by Carol not feeling too well. I hope she is feeling better today and if you\'d like me to buddy at a future trackday, just ask. At least you can say you\'ve driven your 8 on track!

Last, but not least (maybe in stature though  :D ), Harrizone, the guy I have to blame for my serious addiction to trackdays. Seeing him drive his Rex at Brands many years ago gave me the courage to take my car tout out on that track and that\'s how this journey started. Now we having a hoot as both are cars are pretty much the same setup and having watched many others drivers on track to pick up ideas I can now keep up with him, something I never thought I\'d ever be able to do!

Thanks to all the Buddys for helping out too  :Thumbs-up

Last thing, I think there were 2 beemers (at least one), that had engines spectacularly explode on track. I\'m pleased to see all the "unreliable" rotary engines had no such incidents, despite 16 of them being out on track. Interesting.......

Thanks to Malcolm for being my Buddy and welcome your Buddyism at my next outing, im amazed how the fast and how the RX 8 sticks to the track around fast corners, but of course with Malcolm driving, thanks for a super day.............
Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself...
But i can always do with some help now due to, my advancing years!

stewartm

Evening chaps - the plus side of an early shower for us was the chance to get around the circuit with the camera, and so got to pick up a few pics of cars well known here (click to get to the bigger versions):

Malcolm - once again thanks for putting so much effort into organising a great day. See you all next time (hopefully on the track)

clive

Huge thanks to Malcolm for organising this and to all of you who came along to make it a great couple of days, even though things were not too great with the race car till the very last lap (I will expand on this later)

Off to watch the Daytona 500 live on the box :Thumbsup!
All the best Clive

Malcolm,
Thanks for arranging this great track day.

The weather stayed dry and the track dried out by mid morning.

Thanks to Jaydee for \'cleaning up\' the map in my FD.

Clive, really pleased you were happy at the end of what was a very chaotic day for you.

It was great to chat with everyone who attended from the RX8 OC. As always great banter all day and lots of help offered and provided where needed.

All in all a great day.
