Decided i\'m goin to fabricate a heat sheild for my induction kit to try and stop it suckin in hot air. I know this\'nt goin to be easy as there is not a lot space there but i\'ve got a few ideas.
Just wondered if anyone else had one fitted or made and could offer any advice.

Isn\'t the new Sonic air induction coated with aluminium, thus allowing minimal hot air ???

personally i\'d say that was more of a gimic, although i dunno sheet http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008\' target=\'_blank\'>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_2_16.gif\' border=0>, & basically it\'s still sucking air from warm engine bay only is more surrounded so probably less air flow too. Maybe me looking on worst case but nice open induction with cold air feed & a bit of seperating from the real hot bits sound cunning, also sounds a bit like the standard one so can see why everyone says it\'s not one of the most beneficial mods.....
Si (talking technical it happens occasionally..... lol)

I was thinking of doing the same, mainly below the filters, the bottom filter is basically resting on a radiator pipe :)

Let us know how you get on, thinks theres a couple of mounts for the airbox down there which might come in handy.

While this subject is up, is there a prefered material to use for heat-shielding? didnt know if aluminium or other metals might allow too much heat through, suppose carbon fibre might be an option, but a tad pricey id imagine

I made one for carlos twin turbo, in ali it took me about half hour.
Can do more if people want,  but they are custome made so will need an exact pattern or the car.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Hmm sounds interesting Ant so wot you need exact measurements & angles or maybe just a technical retard with a picture of car & a ruler would suffice? http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008\' target=\'_blank\'>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_5_119.gif\' border=0>
So wot d\'ya charge luv? http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008\' target=\'_blank\'>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/29/29_2_4.gif\' border=0>

Yeah let us know how much you\'d want Ant, where abouts in essex are ya?

The workshop i use is in Harlow.  Money depends on shape and time. But in the region of 50 quid for a fairly straight forward one. Square bends and cuts etc.  It is much easier with the car as i can fit it at the same time, as you all know there isnt much room for error and some are easier to make in two bits so that you can fit it without having to take too much out.
A pattern would would need to be a template with details on the angles of the bends, hence its easier with the car.
