Was half wondering wether it would be a semi good idea ignore costs would it be worth putting the 6 port turbo lump in a fc or is a fc modded intake better?

Grant Monkhouse

6 port turbo? Rx8 have no turbos, not even pretend ones.

billybobbooth

No no no take a rx8 lump bolt a turbo to it and make a 6 port turbo engine. Using the 230 rx8 engine

Grant Monkhouse

You would need a custom turbo manifold as the rx8 has side port exhaust ports rather than the standard peripheral exhaust ports found on all other rotaries.

If you we\'re going to make the manifold then an fc turbo would be pointless.

Best bet would be to get a new manifold and turbo setup for the fc engine, simpler easier

There are a few firms making Turbo kits for the RX8 engine but your looking at around the £4k-£5k mark just for the turbo kit.
then you need the RX8 components and engine.

nice idead but i think i am with grant... just Turbo the FC
Turbocharged 192ps RX-8 running Meth Injection on an Adaptronic
Fully Bridgeported 231ps RX-8 stripped for the Track
2nd Gen RX-7 TurboII on a GT35r (show winner)

What Grant and Arnie said. RX8s aren\'t the easiest things to Turbo anyway, you\'d better off Turboing your EGI.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

The rx8s are Hugh compression rotors, 10-1 I think. There are a few people turboing them and getting a lot of power but they are using e85 fuel which has lots of oxygen in it to prevent detonation.

A 13bt motor would be better maybe, iirc they have 8.5-1 rotors.

Its been done before, the gearbox is slightly shorter I think meaning that the shifter location is in a slightly different location vs an FC.

If you are after an NA 200bhp rotary then either port a normal EGI engine or fit a RX8 engine, if you are wanting some power get an FC 13bt engine. Basically where the power of the EGI finishes the turbo II engine starts as its heavily restricted to 200bhp as stock - if you are seriously after some power get a series 4 FC engine (ie an FC3S turbo not a turbo II) which has lower compression rotors.

To get lots of power out of an RX8 motor you need a lot of cooling and Grant is right on the 10:1 compression ratio.

The 13BT would be a better bet for easy power.
