Christmas is fast approaching - which means our annual outing to this historic home of UK motor racing is nearing - always highly popular!

I\'ve just checked and
THERE ARE ONLY A FEW SPACES LEFT :2eek
Although this event is still eight weeks away, it\'s popularity is evident!

If you want to come alon to this, book NOW or you won\'t get a place.

Book via THIS LINK

Don\'t book any garages (unless you want one for yourself!) as some have already been booked and I will sort this out with Nick at Mazdaontrack so we share 3 to a garage and will collect a contribution on the day from everyone (£10 for share).

Never done a trackday before? As on all trackdays, they are well managed and marshalled. There will be a comprehensive, compulsory, safety briefing at the start of the day for all drivers, followed by some slow “sighting laps” behind a lead car. There will be plenty of experienced trackheads present who will be only too happy give assistance to any novices. This is a short track, and very easy to learn, but very hard to master! Paddock Hill bend is legendary - immediately after the main straight, where you could be touching 120mph, you see a blind bend as the track dips suddenly downhill and to the right. It\'s an exhilerating feeeling to take this corner at speed...

Provisional timings are:
Sign On 7:30 till 8:30
Safety Briefing 08.30
Sighting Laps at 9:00
Lunch break 12:30 – 13:30
Finish - 16.30 (subject to light on the day)

Event Type: Open Pitlane.
“Open Pitlane” means you are free to drive on the circuit when you like, for as much as you like, subject to safe numbers on circuit. If you have a standard RX-8, then expect to get about 10-15 minutes on track with around 20-30 minutes to “cool-off”, else you, your engine, tyres and brakes will overheat!

Address;

Brands Hatch
Fawkham
Longfield
Kent
DA3 8NG

Located on the A20. It is well signposted from junction 3 of the M25.

Circuit Statistics:
Length: 1.2miles
Corners: 6
Max Noise: 105dB Static (shouldn’t be a problem for any RX-8 unless you have a decat and very noisy aftermarket exhaust)

THE COST?: £150. If you are a full MRC member there will be a £15 rebate you can claim back after the event. If you are a full RX8OC member then you can also claim back £20 (full details on the RX8OC website).
REQUIREMENTS: Helmets are required, and you MUST bring along your driving license (both parts if you have them) on the day for inspection.
PAYMENT FOR THIS EVENT: Payment can be made via the Mazda on Track website CLICK HERE FOR LINK
EXTRA DRIVERS: £25 per extra driver.
PASSENGERS: £10 per passenger.
INSURANCE: Insurance is not compulsory, but your normal road insurance is unlikely to cover you. Please look at the separate “Trackday Insurance” thread for advice and make your own judgement.
INSTRUCTION: Mazda on Track have professionally qualified instructors available; £25 for one session (~20mins on track). These can be booked in advance, or on the day.
LOCAL ACCOMMODATION: Some people may want to stay locally the night before, the night after, or even both! There is a hotel located right at the circuit itself.
QUESTIONS: That’s what I’m here for! I’ll do my best to answer any questions you post on this thread, or PM me.

I\'ve booked and paid for my place!

Here are a couple of videos from our last outing to Brands. Note the slightly damp track (not on the racing line!) and the georgeous weather in the pm session!

First video is taken from my car, camera mounted nearside foglight area.
Second video taken in Arnie_O\'s car, with instruction form Steve Brewis.

Speaking to Steve today..... So tempted to get an 8 strip out and join you guys for some fun. Anyone know of a low compression 8 going cheap?

Will66

Carl Hayward\'s got one with a 12 month engine warranty for £2750 at the moment.  Looks like a nice ride.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Grant Monkhouse

I\'m looking for something for half that. Going to strip it out so don\'t want to spend
Money on a car the is going to be

BECAUSE RACE CAR

Will66

I may have to strip mine.

Then people will ask "Why is your car noisy with no stereo?"

BECAUSE RACE CAR!

I would leave stereo in so I can blast my driving theme tune as I blasted around a track

Will66

I do that sometimes.  AC/DC\'s Shoot to Thrill = +2 seconds a lap!

I totally agree. Git a few aggressive rap/hip hop tunes that give my focus 200+ extra HP
When I\'m driving

Will66

Oddly, Gangnam Style makes the Mondeo go very fast.

Rear seats, door cards passenger seat, spare wheel, roof lining, heating system, hand brake, carpets, sun visors, 6th gear, some fuel, 10ml of brake fluid, gear oil, engine oil, remove some paint, foam out of drivers seat, don\'t eat that second pie and cup of t, go to toilet....... Sure there\'s something I missed.

Would love to come on these track days.

Where can I find the details of future events? If I was a new comer to the site ;)

Will66

This thread possibly?

casey will no doubt start a 2013 trackday thread later in the year.  But I can virtually guarantee it will include but not be limited to Oulton Park in the Spring, Japfest, Cadwell and Brands Hatch in December, with a few others thrown in for good measure.

If you subscribe to the ***TRACKDAYS 2012*** thread then I post up everything there, with links to individual threads for events as they get within about 8 weeks. I also put trackdays on the forum calendar, which appears at the top of the forum main page. Is there anywhere else you think I could be missing?
