Hi all,
I\'ve just bought from ebay a wreck of a car. It\'s a Turbo2 convertible that at some time in it\'s life was loved (G706 BPV) as it has a fuel cut defender, Racing Beat exhaust, air filter upgrade, shock upgrade, upgraded brakes/discs.
Wheels are missing, hood is ripped, driver\'s seat bolster is ripped and a number of panels have been keyed and paint if flaking off. Interior is missing lots of pieces (including carpet).
But, my choice is whether to restore the car (and it\'s rust and problems) or take the engine out and install it into an MX5 (1st gen).

I like both the RX7 and the MX5, so i am thinking.

Anyway, the reason for the post:
Fuel pump not working unless i provider direct power from the battery to it. It then fires up the engine first go, but it won\'t idle. Looking in the engine bay the pipe that goes from the \'Pressure Sensor\' on the drivers wing is floating in air. As is the pipe from the \'MAF sensor\', there\'s a third one coming from the side of the engine, and they look like all 3 in the past joined together possibly with a T piece or other item.

Any ideas?
(any help on posting pics to help ppl to see the problem)

Pics would help, but I suspect those pipes were\'t all joined. It\'s obviousy missing some plumbing. The engine should turn over and at least idle even with the MAP sensor seeing air pressure, so I suspect you have another issue like a connector off somewhere.

Should be able to post up pics using a photo hosting site like flickr or photobucket.

If it works you can see the sorry state the car is in, but it was only £250 on ebay, so i thought - i can\'t go wrong ....:wave

Fairly positive those 3 pipes should have a tee piece there to connect them together.  Just a plastic push fit type, same thing as you would get with a boost gauge to splice in there.

OK - so thing behind the air filter / air flow meter is the recirc valve, so the small hose connecting it can be Tee\'d with the MAP and a boost/vac source, I suspect there was a Tee in there.

Thanks for the help guys, I\'ll try and Tee it all together this weekend and see if that fixes the poor idling

Still got to look underneath at the rust and work out why the fuel pump has to be hard wired to the battery to get it work.

Then i can see if it will be a donor or a restore project.

Prof, looks like you might be just up the road from me, if you still have an FC any chance i can take a look under your bonnet to see how it should be connected ?

Cheers:cheers

hey man, good luck with this!!

but if you do decide to donor it, i would enjoy taking the shell off your hands, regardless of condition..

hope you work out the issue either way man
