The robin/space shuttle was a moment of television, and engineering genius IMO

Quote from: m1tch;834982It would actually be good if they did some normal reviews like the older top gears, its all well and good trying to get across the channel in a cobbled together car, but if I am in the market for a small well speced car I need to look elsewhere rather than a BBCs own motoring program.

That\'s what the Internet is for David, Top gear is for daft challenges as fast cars :D

The thing with proper normal car reviews is they\'re a bit dull.  Particularly now that there aren\'t that many truly bad cars about.  No modern cars are hideously unsafe, dangerous to drive or catastrophically bad at what they do in terms of moving people and stuff from A to B.  A car review on TV would basically pick a humdrum car, point out that it was safe, had a decent boot and room to put X people in it and that the engine was quiet on the cruise.

Top Gear works because it indulges fantasy as much as reality.  Any petrolhead would love an airfield to play with and a succession of other people\'s expensive cars to thrash round it, then from time to time to head off to some far flung part of the world to powerslide across an iceflow or leap a giant tree in something improbable.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!
