Breaking an RX8

Having broken a car before, I swore to never do it again.

However... A colleague has just killed his (as in needs an engine rebuild), and has offered me it for a fairly daft price of £800 as he\'s off travelling for 6 months and needs rid, so it\'s got me thinking.

It\'s got a stainless exhaust, access port, some lowered springs & anniversary wheels of note, then obviously the rest is just an RX8. I\'m unsure of mileage and age ATM.

What\'s the sort of general amount I could make out of it? 3-4k, or more?

They don\'t break for much Gaz, Ignore the prices you see breakers parts on ebay etc gearboxes, diffs for £300-£500 etc don\'t sell.

Realistically body panels about £30 each, gearbox £100, full interior £200.

Probably around £1500 in parts.

Ah, that\'s a dampener then. Not sure £1500 is really worth the hassle.

Rebuild the motor and it\'ll be a nice car.

Don\'t have the time to strip and rebuild it (sounds like it\'s spat a tip from the description of it\'s failure), and I\'m not going to get much for it as it\'s an 03 plate. I was interested in stripping it if I could make £2000 or so.

Thought the gearboxes went for good money. Quite a few of the racing guys run them and pay quite a bit for them (6 speed ones).

Maybe it will be a good option for somebody looking for a shell for a trackcar, if its even worth much in that state.
