Bit of an odd question but can someone with an  FD3 look in the bay and tell me if the engine sits centrally against the two steering rack mounting positions or is it about 1" over to the passenger side?

A picture would speak a thousand words if anyone has one.. I been trawling the net and cannot find one that shows what I am looking for!

Thank you

When I fitted mine I had to phone a friend as I thought I had major problems but the engine does sit to one side,;-)

the engine should centre itself when you drop the engine mounts attached with the engine into the engine mounting points on the subframe??? that way you know its in the right place.

Thanks for the reply guys. Anyone got a picture I can compare with please?
Basically I have made mounts from my 13b to locate my 20b in the stock location and notixed the 20b is about 1" to the passenger side? Maybe I jigged it wrong but the mounts were jigged seperately so want to know if that is how the 13B mounts and then I can determine if I should square it up or not?

I can take a pic in the morning but it is about 1" to the right.

Hi Leeroy,
I can pop down to Havant with the car so you can see first hand if you like. I\'m up the road in W\'looville.

No problem at all mate. I\'ve no PM on here, but call me on 07704876211. We did meet before at a West Meon Hut HJCC meet when you had your previous FD.

These pics might be of some help to you?

Spot on mate.. Perfect! As it happens I went to see Bdarepats car today.. It\'s all built up so I could tell the engine was over one way.. Just not exatly how much.. This shows exactly what I wanted to see and is exacly where my 20B sits which is a releif! Now I need to decide if I have to centre it like everyone else seems to or if I can run it where it is and still get necessary rack clearance and so on?
We will soon see!

Thanks guys for your help. Made my day a little bit brighter!

By the way yamaster.. I see your OMP appears blanked off. You running pre-mix? What are you going to be running the car in when its done?

No probs. when I dropped the engine in originally I thought I had a major fcuk up somewhere along the line with the engine sitting to one side but was told it was the norm thank god. I\'ve been thinking of moving the engine back to square centre but don\'t see the need.

Yea the omp is removed and will be running a premix when it eventually is finished. I\'ll be mainly using the car in the ITCC ( //www.itcc.ie) but hope to do a few races in the uk if funds allow. :cool

Good Stuff.. I keep toying with building a PP motor for a laugh with the spares I have.. Dn\'t know what I wold put it in yet though. I like how you have gone back to basics with a carb and old style CAS too.. Keep it simple to work on!
