Have a question for you guys.
I\'ve been having boosting trouble for too long now.
Im getting 0.4 0.5 bar constant, sometimes a little more then it\'ll drop back down. The system is holding pressure 100%, I\'ve tried everything, rats nest, fixed a few boost leaks. Changed all solenoids/actuators ect ect ect
Anyway my next and probably last step will be the cat.

My question is... if I remove the cat and go for a test drive on boost. Is it dangerous for my engine???
I have a standard ecu and I know it will run lean but will it be ok for a quick drive?
Thanks for any help

If everything else is standard , exhaust, filters etc then possibly. Me personally wouldnt take the chance.

what about the fuel pump? it possibilly is not pumping at enough pressure

The car does have apexi air filters and a catback exhaust, so best not then hu.
I suspect the cat as I thought I could hear it rattling... fueling cant affect boost then?

wolfie1

it will make it not come onto boost as not enough fuel

Have you had a look at the check valves
Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself...
But i can always do with some help now due to, my advancing years!

I have just removed a Profec B Spec 2 boost controller and it was fine prior to removal, making whatever boost I had the controller set at.

I had installed the small pipe (with pill) where the controller connects but not the reconnected the other pipe that was removed and blanked gto allow the boost controller to work - this is the wastegate actuator outflow.

The 0.5 bar is the spring rating of the stock wastegate.

So you could have a similar issue.  Fuel pump is nothing to do with making boost, unless you have a major issue, then the engine would not rev, the stock engine will make 10 psi at around 2000 rpm if everything else is ok.

But to answer your question, not sure what you would prove doing a run without the cat?

really! had an issue like this, fitted a fuel pump and instantly sorted but hey may be wrong, just that he has tried everything else as i had done first before the pump :Thumbs-up

I agree with johnm. I ran mines on wastegate spring only, running 0.4/0.5 bar max (3.75" exhaust without cat).

It\'s easy to mess something up in this mess with the pills, the lines, the actuators... Need to re-check everything around the waste gate.
