Right, need to give the car the first service of my ownership. im ordering the mineral oil/filter and plugs off mazda rotary parts later this week. But what i need to know is.....where are the plugs located? and where does the oil get filled up from? daft questions i know but having not done a service on a rotary before i am clueless!

under the intake elbow is 4 plugs u cant miss it its got 4 red wires poking out of it. oil filler cap if my memory is not playing up is just after the front strut brace to the right of the engine bay. oil filter is at the back of the dip stick. and it might be worth changing the leads as well while u in that part of the engine bay n have 1 of them magnet pens ready as it too easy to drop them little 10mm nuts, good luck have fun

ok bud ill take a look at that tomorrow. changing the leads to what?

im sure you should be able to go 2-3k on 1 service or once a year which ever come sooner unless its a heavily mod car

cheers for the help guys. im gonna have a look tomorrow with regards to the dip stick/oil situation. i know not knowing where it goes it misery! but when i had quick prod about under there i couldnt see any obvious dipstick/oil filler cap! adib, where abouts are you? i may take you up on that offer if not too far!
with regards to the oil, i was told 10w40 mineral by Carl at Hayward, but the oil on mazda rotary parts thats recommended on there is 10w30....is this going to pose a problem?

i know its halfords, but i presume this is what i need? i feel like a right numpty asking all these basic questions but its a whole new world with these rotary engines! piston engines seemed so much more simple!!

carl services my car for me every 6 months which is apx 2500- 3000 miles. with that he uses 10 40 mineral. and i touch wood have had no problems what so ever and my car runs really smooth.

Adam,

Go to milehams loads cheaper, get the plugs and oil and oil filter, drive to mine and I\'ll show you what to do.

Piece of cake mate, I\'ll be taking my engine out on saturday at somepoint so I\'ll be around most of the day.
Why its good to do your homework of "specialists"

On general maintenance, what do people recommend if the car is seeing the track? On a "normal" car I\'d expect to change oil every 2-3 events, depending on its usage in between, would the rex benefit from something more regular?

Really appreciate all the help guys. Only reason I picked that out of halfords is because it was online! And I have a trade card lol. Matt, ill take you up on that offer. Where abouts you based? Give me a txt 07791555033, I should be able to get over tomorrow around 2 ish
