I Just Bought a RX7 today! I decided to go back to a good old rotary engine after wrecking 3 Mr2\'s LOL.  I miss my 79 rx-7 but this 88 I bought today will do! Its a GX-L  is there any major issues to look for it has 177,000 miles and does not smoke and appears to be sound my fear is its been sitting for a year or so. What should I look for?

Hi and welcome, the things to look out for are;

Smoke when starting (hot or hold)
Difficulty to start when hot
Noisy gearbox
Low boost when giving it some.

I am sure othes will add other things.

Well I found it smokes when it starts cold but as soon as its warm it stops smoking! Is this bad or just a sign of in need of new seals?

Smoking when starting up for a few seconds is fine,the engine management is injecting oil on startup.
