Mazda rotary parts do full kits, the hard bit isn\'t the rebuilding (its just some seals and some long bolts :P) its more about knowing what you can and can\'t reuse.

If you are going to rebuild it yourself, get friendly with some who\'s done it or does it for a living - you are going to need their advice ;)

Then make sure you have all these to hand:

Engine stand with the rotary engine adaptor plate
Torque Wrench
Medical Paraffin (or unscented pure vaseline)
A large syringe
A big soft mallet
Red Rubber grease
Engine build lube
Some Hylomar
Some RTV
All the soft seals (water seals, oil control ring rubbers, O rings)
New washer / O rings for the long bolts
A micrometer
Feeler gauges
Grinding stone
The rebuild DVD\'s
The Field Service Manual (workshop manual)
some patience...

And for taking it apart / cleaning it:

A long length of thick iron bar to bolt to the flywheel
A 54MM 6 sided socket and an appropriate large pipe to swing off (6ft)
Large copper hammer
Some Cleaning fluids and / or access to a parts cleaner
A micrometer to check run out and wear on the housings - unless you are using new ones.
Carbon cleaner
Dental picks - to get the seals and springs out of the rotors

It is a job you could do yourself, but make a mistake and the hard work is wasted.  Check and measure everthing (twice)...

Prof, you missed the most important tool, dial test indicator with stand. Knowing what engine parts to reuse is easy with one of these because all the tolerances are in the fsm.

I called it a micrometer -  but yes - one of them is essential !

Atkins or Racing Beat are cheapest in my experience

davehg

I would always use Mazda from experience
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

Second vote for Mazda Rotary Parts
They should have them in stock and are in the UK so will be fast delivery,
They are all genuine Mazda parts they supply in their rebuild kits too from what I am told.
Turbocharged 192ps RX-8 running Meth Injection on an Adaptronic
Fully Bridgeported 231ps RX-8 stripped for the Track
2nd Gen RX-7 TurboII on a GT35r (show winner)

Racing beat delivery is like 3 days, they supply genuine Mazda parts, and are cheap. When I looked on mazda rotary parts their price was the same as the US dollar price, but in pounds

paul3944

Bet you my original kit is cheaper than all of the above.  Â£800 posted.
