The passenger side roll cage was the first job. I had some help from a mate of mine to get it started and help getting the e-throttle working nice. So thanks to Karl for his input.

Race Car Update------------- Christine continues to fight me !

First of all HUGE thanks to Jim ( lennycarloff) on here, has gone way way beyond the call of duty to get me on track this year and ATM Pip who is also pulling out all the stops as well.

Jim has been an absolute star because initially he thought he could get the car into a workshop, but instead he has completely rewired the car on his drive across the last three weeks, literally in the cold, the rain and the snow up north in Wakefield .

Not only that he has fitted the Devils own water injection and has the car wired for the next stage once we have the car out racing, which is full traction and launch control.
One of the biggest feats has been to make the standard RX-8 throttle pedal, communicate with the Hemi throttle body through the Link Xtreme ECU.

Now for the bad side!

Pip has dropped all his work to get the car sorted and has now been on it for three days.

First issue was that with all the extra electrical draw, the small custom  alternator had a field go down and could not supply enough voltage to map the car. We managed to find a Wosp race alternator that Pips's made fit.

Next with the car now charging, next issue became the car had stopped making boost even though the car was fine last time out.
I made frantic phone calls yesterday afternoon and probably got the only 60mm Tial wastegate that's available in the UK. "Hopefully" this will be delivered this afternoon and it can go on the car Monday and be finally mapped with more boost than ever due to having the water injection that's now on board.

All the panic is to get the car ready for a full day test at Brands on Friday, then all being well off to Silverstone for the first Race of the season the following weekend, the 26h & 27th
Did the watergate turn up on time Clive ?

Yes, Wastegate should have been here on a Saturday special, arrived this afternoon and Pip fitted it this evening.

Sitting in a Hotel in Crewe ATM so I can be with the car first thing in the morning

Bad bad girl Christine !

Not a good day today------------no testing on Friday  :(

Pip has been a star and actually went back to work late last night to get the new wastegate fitted so we could be ready for the dyno today.
With the charging issues, wastegate etc, he has now had 4 days on the car!

Car has literally been on the dyno all day with Pip (and myself) chasing issues,
None are to do with any of Jim's install or the new hardware installs (intake manifold etc)

Initially Pip chased a small misfire and got that cured, then we could not get any boost, which we traced to a faulty Turbosmart T piece which had a non return valve that was stuck, then a split pipe probably caused by disturbing the wastegate.

Now we had properly controlled boost we had fluctuating fuel pressure!

Fitted a new Bosch O44 pump but still the car would not hold constant fuel pressure  :(

We now believe the standard Mazda pump that was being used as a lift pump is just not man enough to keep the swirl pot full that then feeds the 044.

Going back Thursday to upgrade the Mazda fuel pump assembly to one of our 255 Walbro pumps that we sell so we can get  the car back on the Dyno for Friday.

Sadly due to not being able to test, Silverstone qualifying is now compromised.

(A) the car will drive differently,  as we already know we have more bottom end power and (B) I will lose the first few laps bedding new brake pads in!!
All the best Clive

Mr Spiller

Awful news Clive
At least you have a plan
Is there not anywhere you can bed the brakes in ?
Good luck
