Sad and rubbish weekend all round . With the  death of the marshal and an injured driver nobody seemed to be very up for going racing. When we finally got to go "racing" that turned into a mess as well.

On the warm up laps my gear leaver ball snapped off leaving me just a stub to change gear, then we had cars playing lemmings throwing themselves off the track bringing out the safety car which we followed for lap after lap after lap.

The safety car made a total mess and  left the whole field spread out over a lap, instead of slowing down or stopping to reform a grid, they then they decided to throw the green flag out and we were off  for just four and a half minutes of racing.

On a plus side there was a kind Goodyear tech guy who was trying to help me (thankyou)

However I am still at a loss as to why I lost 4 seconds a lap over my previous visits with a car that should have been by now in the very low 51's and running up the sharp end !!.

Plus side is with the engine now run in I can get it back on the dyno and get a different diff ratio in the back again ! in the effort to get the car more competitive. Giving the next one a miss, so it will be Snetterton in a months' time.

All in all, not a great weekend for you Clive, except for the fact your engine is now run-in. I watched the live feed with the procession of cars following the safety car for lap after lap, watching the clock run down, not very exciting!

Glad you and the car are OK though, after a very sobering and sad incident on Saturday  :(

Yep. I watched the livestream. Very frustrating for you.
Best to consider it some more running in.
Difficult to see where the 3 secs have been lost. Like i said on the phone my mate who uses the ex btcc slicks said they are so changeable and some are junk..maybe too many heat cycles?
Early birthday/ xmas self pressie and buy some new 1s?

Echo what everyone else has said, race was a bit of a procession but after Saturday, being uneventful was possibly a good thing.
Glad you and the car survived (with only a minor repair to your gear lever).
On a plus side, you are very easy to spot on the track . Definately one of brighter colour schemes on the grid this weekend.!

Thanks guys,
Already planning forward to get some speed back in the car/
Looks like £1200 worth of tyres will be on the list, dropping the next round will help towards them.

It was an end to a terrible weekend.

At first I thought the knob had just come off but then realised the gear leaver itself had broke,

Ripped the gator off, still couldn't get hold of what was left of the stick.

Next I tried to punch the centre console Steve made into a V shape. (below)

That didn't work so I ripped the whole middle out then I was just able to get hold of the leaver, not that it mattered with only a 4 1/2 minute so called race.

I felt your frustration in the vid. Did look to change down better mind? Whether thats the case though.
I remember the 51.xx lap you did at Brands but cant remember the tyres you were on. Plus new coilovers need time to settle in..
Itll come and back at pointy end.
Ive noticed in this series that alot of the competitors are having mixed results too. Dominate at 1 circuit and midpack others.

Yes I have done a 51 on slicks and a 52 on track day tyres which is why a 55 was so damn frustrating!.

Debriefed myself to find a way forward and now have a list to do before Snetterton.

Up to Pip's next week for the re-mapp, which was always planned.

Change the diff ratio to a 4.7 as this should make the box operate properly as the gears will become closer with the lower ratio in the rear end, also the car will accelerate faster and keep the car on boost.

Springs are way way too hard on this kit which led to the car understeering like mad, which in turn heated the tyres making them go off real fast and loose grip.

Fronts are 18 kilo, rears 14 kilo, on my old Tein kit I had 12 and 10. Going to go to 14 and 12kilo  so that "should"  sort that out.

Then lastly going to push the boat out and buy some new Goodyears, especially after the Goodyear tyre tech guy helped me with so much info over the weekend.

I will say it would be easy just to put the old box back in but not only would this be a backward step, it would also mean  I cant put any more power into the car over the winter as the old box would just break with any more power put through it.

I, too, felt your frustration with the gear lever issue in the video. The saving grace was that it happened under yellow flags in a fairly meaningless race, given only 4 minutes of actual race time.

Good to see you have a plan to get things sorted for the next race  :icon_thumleft:
