Is there a way of re engineering the PPF amd attaching to the new gear box ?

Sorry I missed the race captain, I was up to my neck in wires and switches with the father in laws Locost grrrrrrr.

I was chatting to Jon briefly yesterday and I said I'm surprised it broke it looks triangulated enough.

Looking at the pics I don't think there's anything wrong with the design, maybe the materials used.

Maybe dig deep for some chomoly tube or t45 and get steve to hone his tig wleding skills lol.

Just my 2 pence worth. Good look for the next race

My mate has had same troubles when he put a V8 in his MK 1 MX5
Not sure what he's planning to fix it yet
He's currently not driving it like a loon .....

Clive is that dog box clutchless downshift? The lock up was that brake or engine braking?
If clutchless how do you rev match it...gonna take some getting use to for sure...staggered ratios or such like?

The lock up was slamming the box down to 1st gear!

The dox boxes I have had in the past have changed up and down with no clutch, this one changes up perfect but hates changing down,

I tried all sorts of things to change down,bearing in mind over the years I have even driven lorries that had "crash" gearboxes with no syncro's and still no good.

I am now sure I have a clutch release issue. On the line for the restart the pedal was litterally on the floor which probably contributed to a bad start!

When the cars cold the pedal is OK but not hot, bearing in mind I have race fluid and a braided hose, I suspect the master cylinder.

I remember early RX-8's had master issues so I will change that and lengthen the rod to give more travel, hopefully this will sort the changing down

Cool. Fingers crossed. That must be so strange changing gear without clutch. I remember years ago driving my first auto and pressing the brake pedal like a clutch pedal...

I rewatched the pescari youtube channel coverage posted by Philip above. Hes got race 1 and race1 restart. Good watch.
Makes a funny comment "that mazda has 4000bhp" lol. From facebook posts i read he got his entry ticket from 1 of the other track attack race drivers....

Painful to watch, really hope sorting the clutch issue helps the thing change down.

That downshift into the hairpin sounds so cruel ....
But Ive never driven a car with a dog box
Hopefully other circuits will be a bit easier on it
