Track was not good and slow, never is when Radicals are about as they shed so much rubber and junk on the track, they had their own sessions.

We had them at Brands last Thunder race and everyone complained they had lost a second during the race over qually due to the Radicals hitting the track.

Worked out already where I can be quicker and why I didn't sus out the gear box (I do my own de-brief after every time)  ;)

Trust me those  Ginetta were really pushing as I could tell with some of the desperate late braking and loss of tyre grip :)
That's good going to be that close to a half second of possible best
Good on you Clive very consistent

Great to see you put in the car ready Clive. I can't remember who it was that told me but that person said that with a dog box you have to be aggressive with them because if you don't and you try treat them like a synchro gear box they are hard work and can break.

They're made to be bang shifted if that makes sense.

Spoke to Jonathan Smith today who was a great help and totally agreed with his line of thought and I through his info even worked out where the splitter was killing itself.

Due to more grip from the new tyres, I was going through Paddock faster and bottoming the car harder than normal, with the splitter literally on the ground the air had to go somewhere and because it couldn't go under the splitter then under the car, all that air pressure went onto the top of the splitter and killed it!

Jonathan worked out that I need a hulk like splitter that's detached from the nose attached directly to the chassis that can never flex. Upside is it will make more downforce as well :).

Bang shifting up was not an issue and I can change as fast as any sequential box (for a fraction of the price)

I do like to be as kind as possible to a car and changing down was giving a crunch which when changing down, but I think some of that was me.

I think I will have to double de clutch like I had to years ago with old Fodens and things I used to road test, but with out using the clutch.

In other words, to change down, get it out of gear, blip the throttle then down a gear. Not sure if the nut behind the wheel will master that though  ::)  Either that or just like I saw in BTCC at the weekend, just bash it down the box!
If this approach is slower then brutal it will have to be,

All the best Clive

Well it's good to get feedback from an "expert"
I predict some more work for Steve lol.

Hopefully the guess work on my stepped splitter will allow air to get under and work.

Just hope it doesn't have that much downforce it pulls the front end off the car lol

That fits. I was watching from near the bottom of Paddock Hill, when the car suspension would be compressing just into the rise up to Druids. Every time you came through there in the first session, before the black flag, there was a brief, but very (VERY) loud "metallic/crashing" sound. That would have been the splitter hitting the deck and leading to the consequent air inflicted damage.

That test session proved very valuable  :icon_thumleft:

Getting ready for Mallory next Saturday.

I was going to modify and use last years splitter but Steve save No, No, No, and we embarked on the new supa doopa splitter attached to the chassis, not the nose, you will also see a new piece of sheet along side the sump in the quest to make more of a flat floor for more downforce.

Steve spent all day on it (thankyou :great:) and we are now a long way into getting it finished and screwed together for next week.

All this means the air going under the car will now be much more controlled with no flexing , also we will leave the cannards off as I believe these were now slowing the car on the straights.

Looking good Clive. Such and advantage having a car hoist. Turns a 3 hour job on your back into something a little bit more comfortable
