Rear wing and now bonnet, it's all being tested, if you sort the bonnet out it may affect downforce. There's no winning ???

You may be right Jim.
However, when the rear wing collapsed the car was more of a handfull but my fastest lap was after the wing collapsed ::)

I can live with car being more difficult to drive if its quicker, in NASCAR terms "loose is fast"!
Just got to find someone who can teach me how to drive :-[

Maybe it's time to look into active aero, what could possibly go wrong with that. :dontknow:

DRS is banned in the blue book, but we tried with a collapsable rear wing and that didnt go so well  ;)

Iv always wanted to see someone use the rear wing as an air brake like the mercedes SLR had, technically its not active aero, more like assistive active braking, set it up on the brake pedal but use a tach signal or something, possibly even switched on when you are in 3rd and 4th the gear to help slow the car down at high speeds etc

Run it through a solenoid/relay/switchyjobby and have 2 x  linear actuators as the top arms of the wing attached top and bottom of the top mount brackets on the wing...

Yeh as you can see iv though about how to do it a fair bit lol

I think this would be just  a little too dramatic for the RX-8  ;)

On a more serious note, I have a saying "always learning"

The air brake was mentioned in a recent Sky program on the founding of the disc brake, stolen from the aviation world as many this are.

I didn't realise that while Mercedes were messing around with the air brake system Norman Dewis and Sterling Moss were the main developers of the disc brake which immediately scored over the drum brake. Fascinating program    "always learning"
