Feel for you Clive, not the result you anticipated.

Draw a line under and brave on to the next round?

Mallory Race Report!.

Well after running car at JDM Coombe  where I had a misfire above 8K I debated about getting the car up to WGT to look at the map and now I wish I had, but then hindsight is a wonderful thing! Pip was so busy we agreed it "should" be OK!

Literally first lap out in qualifying the car had a chronic misfire, this time between 5/6K under load which made the car pretty un-driveable so only did a few laps to make sure I qualified and would up a surprising 5th with a 53.1 out of 26 cars !!

Thinking it may have been just spark plugs, I tried a different grade of plugs for the race.
Perhaps even more importantly because the car was over steering a little through Gerards which is the longest corner in the UK, I softened the suspension a little plus took a couple of pounds out of the O/S/R.

The car has such good ballence that even small changes make a difference, something which sadly I was about to find out, because I had now put too much understeer into the car .

With the car still misfiring just the same, I got myself into second place on  the first lap and then on the second lap with warmer tyres the car was feeling better so I tried to carry more speed into the John Cooper Esses, but as soon as I turned in I thought "Yeh, we are not going round this corner"  but I thought, no problem I will just straight line it though and all will be OK, after all  Vettle got away with it , WRONG

As you are approaching you just see a line of dirt, wrong, its a damn ditch, and after the race all I heard was ditch stories where many cars have destroyed themselves going through there, apparently one of the Track Attack cars last year took his whole front suspension assembly off, drive shafts and all.
You will see our resident photographer was over the moon he got the pictures of the car destroying itself  ;)

Dragging the cars alloy splitter under tray etc firmly wedged under the  car I finished a lowly 10th, embarrassingly still being presented a nice big trophy  .

Could have been a worse day though as three cars took themselves head first into the barriers out of  Gerards with all three cars destroyed but thankfully with no injuries.

Here's some before, during my launch and after  :-[

Thanks Jon, once I stiffend the back suspension up again, the handling came back, no grunt on the straights but as you can see, I was still trying in the corners  ;)

Loaded up after the first race as there was no point untill I can sort the misfire.  Its going to have to go back on the rollers as it only happens  under load.

If you look you can see all the front of the car trapped underneath

It's still over-boosting, which may have altered the map.

The day could have been worse, here's one of the three cars involved in the accident, this ones real bad but the Proton was proper dead!

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.
